I, too, believe some slack should be cut for the "pen hissy fits" (there were two) because Charles is not only mourning the loss of his mother but has also had a packed schedule that demanded much energy from a septuagenarian.

Still, I think something of his strength and weakness has shown through.  One critic sniffed that "Charles is not half the man that his mother was."

She had a loooot of scandals. The scandal rags made fun of her weight constantly. They called her the Duchess of Pork. And then some guy sucked her toe on a yacht? She also did a tell all Oprah interview.

I think it's nice that no one here hates her, even though she's complained a lot about how hard royal family life is. I guess she is still considered classy enough for us to not generate 500 page threads about her. Or maybe because she's older now, the press lost interest and no one here knows they're supposed to hate her?

Camilla and the feminine hygiene phone call with Charles, that scandal almost cost him the throne. They are very messy people.

Almost cost him the throne??? Huh?

I don't care for Sarah, she's always been an embarrassment to the RF, and there are the scandals. I'm sure the Queen liked her on a personal basis, though.

Frankly, I think it's a bad idea to have a hissy fit over a pen when the whole world is watching in anticipation to see what kind of king you're going to be.  I don't care how many defective pens you have had to endure.

Feel free to look it up. Wild stuff.

I kind of hope he has lots of public low level hissy fits. It would be funny. The people might find him endearing for it, if no one gets hurt. King Charles III the Peevish.

The Revenge of the Writing Instruments over the past week has been pretty amusing.

Would love to see more!

@Sooner    Well have to agree to disagree.  In this day and age, with the acceptance of divorce, its petty to expect a woman to sit by herself at the back of a church when she has a family with whom she could join.

@Kachina624 Of course it's fine if you aren't the head of the Church of England and to do otherwise would be an endorsement of her lifestyle. . .  and also it is appearances and what the govt. and taxpayers think you have to worry about.

@Sooner    The King of England ought to look at his own past transgressions, those of his wife and brother, Andrew, all more serious imo than any silly thing Fergie did in her youth.  Why isn't Andrew separated and sitting by himself since he's in disgrace?

I read a biography of Charles a number of years ago. Once when Charles was sitting in his office he deliberately dropped a piece of paper at his feet. There was a waste basket within his reach. He called his secretary over and instructed him to pick up the paper and put in the waste basket. The Queen was always known to be and kind to her staff and servants. Charles not so much. I wish him well though. He has waited and been in training for 7 decades.

I recall that, but was put off with the fact that he has a valet fold his toilet paper for him!   I guess it's too strenuous?  I learned on here last week that he also  travels with his own toilet seat.

Knowing that, it's hard to respect a man who can be so petty.
