Hubby is hard core that Sundays are free, but I think that's just cause he needs a drink by then (he gave up alcohol -- lol!). I hope they are free, cause I just had half a burger and two cookies (I gave up meat and sweets). Smiley Wink Hi to you, EMT!!! Hope you're well. Smiley Wink

Uh oh, Future, God saw that! {#emotions_dlg.lol}

I also grew up Presbyterian and have never taken Sunday's off during Lent but that's just me. I figure I can give up something from Ash Wednesday until Easter to honor Christ after all that He's done for me. But at the same token, I don't judge anyone who does take Sunday's off.

Whatever works.

Smiley Wink LOL! I'm the same way. I have done Lent for the past 10 years or so (didn't grow up doing it), and have only done 2-3 yrs with Sunday off. I could honestly do without the meat and sweets -- it certainly wouldn't hurt!, but have decided to take them off this year. Who knows? Next week I might not take off! Smiley Wink I don't think it's a be-all end-all situation. Smiley Wink Have a nice evening.

I sacrifice throughout the Lenten period. Have never taken Sundays off.

This is how we were brought up, no days off.

We do not take Sundays off during Lent. But we are not Catholic so I'd suggest you go by your church's rules.

Sundays are NOT considered days of Lent. There are 40 days: 6 weeks of 6 days each=36 days. The other four days are Ash Wednesday and the three days that follow.

I go with this answer because I remember when I was a kid adults were supposed to fast also.

The Priest tonight also said Sundays are exempt...and he insists it has always been that way through history...( my dad stated if it is that way it must have just changed)..

I think Sundays are ""free"" but I like to keep the ""sacrifice"" momentum going. Smiley Happy

Re: SUNDAYS- Included in Lent or not?

We were told back in elementary school that Sunday was a joyous day and we did not have to sacrifice. Sundays are not part of the 40 days of Lent.

Re: SUNDAYS- Included in Lent or not?

Technically Sundays aren't included and if you gave something up, etc. it is a "cheat" day. However, I personally don't believe in that. I continue through, including Sundays.

Re: SUNDAYS- Included in Lent or not?

I am Methodist (grew up Episcopalian) and to me Sundays are definitely included. My Catholic friends say they are not. Lent is 47 days instead of 40 so a friend told me that is why they can take Sundays off.
