@mousiegirl Did they ask for something from you? If not, what would be the point if the call? Better call your electric company and ask. I get spam emails but not calls.

I actually DID get a refund from my cable provider, due to the fact that there had been fewer sports programs available.

If this was true, you would get a letter....not a phone call.

Sadly, someone we know recently got scammed out of $400. She said she got a call from her tv company, offering her a better deal. She said the person on the phone was actually able to change her tv settings - in other words, had access.
So she thought it must be legit. She admits she was stupid. When the person told her that to take advantage of this offer, she needed to buy prepaid cards on eBay.............she did. ![]()
She's a waitress, a single mom who works hard for her money and she got caught off-guard. I told her that, if she never changed the default password on her system (she hadn't) that's how they got in. She knows for the future, but it's an expensive lesson.
Scammers are nasty, nasty lowlifes, with no conscience.

@Kachina624 I was told to push a number on the phone. This happened re amazon, more than once, and it was spam, and so obvious, but did call amazon just to be sure. I changed my password. As long as one doesn't do as directed, all is fine, but if one pushes the number, spammers can get access to personal data.

I got a spam call regarding my electric bill.
"If we don't get payment in 30 minutes, you'll get shut off" said the guy in an Indian accent.
Oh, my goodness! Let's make sure you have my correct address! The address was from nearly 10 years ago.
So, yes, stop by and I'll pay you cash on the spot. Click. 😉

I had a string of those calls - older man's voice - apologize first for over charging me on my utility bill. Press a key and we will promptly give you a refund.
These calls started during the summer for months. Haven't had one recently - but expect he 'shall return".
I just hung up............
