I just finished reading a post on the TV show "I Love Lucy" in which one poster insulted those that enjoy watching those old reruns. You'd think people wouldn't open a thread that held no interest, but in some twisted way, she felt the need to be hurtful.

What makes me sad is that most of the rude people I observe while out and about are women. Their behavior is disheartening to say the least.

#5 and #10 are the only ones I am buying. To me the rest are excuses.

To your 3 and 5, I'd add 6 and 10.
3. They have low self-esteem.
Sometimes people with low self-esteem attack others. They bring down the people around them so that they can feel better about themselves.
Low self-esteem is so prevalent in this country. Could also stem from parents and our culture making their children and adults feel inferior...they just aren't good enough as they continue to promote unattainable standards of acceptance. Not everyone is equally intelligent, capable, and talented, but our current culture is definitely telling everyone they are.
5. They were not properly raised.
People who were raised to think they were supposed to have everything they want in life. They will do whatever they feel is necessary to ensure they get their way.
I'd also add here, rudeness can be learned behavior from parents. Lack of self-awareness can come into play here. They have no idea they are behaving like their parents. They may dislike those traits in their parents, but are exhibiting them themselves. Here's a thought. What we dislike most in others is often how we behave ourselves.
For example. Someone might say something followed by a rude, sarcastic reply from someone else. The person replying is accusing someone else of being rude and sarcastic when their reply is rude and sarcastic. Watch out, though, when pointing that out, they get real nasty.
There are people in this world who think they are better than everyone else. They think you are beneath them. This is all too common in this day and age.
Absolutely...they think their moral standards are superior to others. Usually, people with high moral standards aren't rude.
Not everyone has a personality disorder but they are much more common than most people realize.
Yes, all of the above can be symptoms of a personality disorder.

Mine were #5-#10.
I do not agree with #3, but I will add #6.
You talked me into adding one more! Good job. =^..^=

That's true. Because it's as if you're supposed to sit back and take mess from others because they are rude. Easier said than done. Sometimes it's ok to give people a taste of their own medicine.

Not so much in my world. But then again, I spent most of my working years with only men on the factory jobs. And then running my adult hockey league(no women asked me if they could play)around all men.
Using the word "rude", to describe many of them, would be much too kind.

I view "rudeness" as a lack of civilization. I aspire to appear as civilized as my education and training will allow.

It's a pathetic state of affairs when ignorant rude people have no self control.
