@on the bay wrote:From all the documentaries and articles etc re the Queen apologizing about not making a statement about Diana's death, she pretty much had to.
She was surprised and didn't know a statement was needed.
Her nation and the world were so upset and publicly demanding the palace respond and lower the flag.
To me that shows how out of touch she is with her citizens and the rest of the world.
She may be totally devoted to her "duties" and the crown and everything the Royals are supposed to do, but like every family there seems to have been a lot of unhappiness in the members that are her family, and not a lot of warmth and understanding.
Of course, I don't know any of them but this is how I've seen it over the years. I guess I don't admire someone who puts ceremony and duty above anyone's happiness.
(read about her sister). Then Diana, Fergie. I am sure there are more. Not that it is soley her fault. People are people.
I applaud William and Kate for seemingly able to make a happy and productive life of it. I don't blame those that can't even though they may have tried.
I just don't feel the same adulation that others do of her.
Very well stated. I find that same adulation rather exaggerated.
Yes, she does her "duties" but she's terribly out of touch. I recall the lengthy interviews done with Charles as his marriage was ending, and, more recently with Andrew. In both cases they came across as entitled and clueless, seeing only the world revolving around them. That's who she is ...... and that's what she raised.
For the life of me, I don't see why she is admired.

I wonder if this picture is legitimate. The Queen arriving at Church yesterday (allegedly.) Not so incandescent with rage, I don't think.

I am sure she has learned to show a poker face ,and not to reveal her private feelings. she has had a lifetime of practice
I am also sure she is worried, and hurt ,and angry too..They are all understandable emotions as far as I am concerned

I have never even once thought any racism was involved in any of this...it just seems Meghan wants to “have her cake and eat it, too”. Harry has long been a free spirit, but no one forced him to marry Meghan and eschew his royal heritage.
The British gossip rags have torn her apart. Some racist comments were a bit subtle, and some was very, very nasty. They won't tear Harry down for marrying her ... whatever it is, iit's always Meghan's fault.
