Great article about what is going on with romaine

This article is not new but it covers what is happening with the science, legal regulations and actions taken in the fight to stop E coli contamination of romaine. Great reporting from the WP. https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/why-romaine-lettuce-keeps-getting-recalled-for-e-coli-contamin...

Not sure I really care what's going on with it. It's been recalled too many times and it's simply easier to avoid it. Besides, I'm not that bestoted with romaine lettuce.

Honestly, none of that matters to me.  There are far to many recalls of Romaine lettuce.  It's isn't a necessity of life.  The world is full of other types of lettuce and other salad greens.  I don't eat Romaine, when in doubt, I can enjoy a salad that doesn't have lettuce.

Re: Great article about what is going on with romaine

I was at Kroger this morning and something was definitely going on in the lettuce area.  Where they keep the bagged salad kits and lettuces there was a whole section that was completely empty!

I no longer buy lettuce.  If I want a salad I cut up cukes, tomatoes, onions, etc. and drizzle with oil or dressing.

Romaine is probably my favorite lettuce, so I was thrilled to see this morning's news about it.  I've been buying it right along -  just being careful of the source and washing it very carefully no matter.
