That type of interchange is called "exotic" here in Alabama.

We have a new state transportation director, he's always changing roads.

In the smaller locations where it's been tried, it's been successful.

On one highway, there have been horrible accidents at intersections, almost always a fatality.    The diverging diamond has all but eliminated those.
