They just showed a recent shot of the fire site on our local NBC station and it was still covered with a layer of thick smoke and is smoldering.  Firefighters still trying to extinguish hot spots.  Much of the roof is gone.  If there was a lot of fabric, it could smolder for days.  What a sad mess!

More than just a mess.  A man died.

This was a 1.2 milion sq ft building, the size of 30 football fields, a 5 alarm fire, 40 departments responded.   Everything they ship, including fabric , is made out of plastic!   No wonder it's still smoldering.

I'm interested to hear the cause of the fire.  The investigation is well underway.

Also, this is a sad reminder to know where your closest exits are when you're in any large, unfamiliar building.

Shocking (well, not really) that some posters are making this a competitive contest with the need to compare and contrast tragedies.

What's tough about a warehouse job is the building is always occupied.

So we can't say thank goodness it started at night.

No one expects to go to work & lose their life but sadly it happens.

@Johnnyeager    This place is known to become toxic very quickly.   Just a matter of time before this thread gets shut down

Devastating and so sad.

It was so weird that 4 of my 5 QVC packages last week came from that warehouse. Just felt so sad...

  • We are providing shutdown pay to all team members unable to work due to the facility shutdown from December 18 through December 31 and are actively assessing next steps for 2022.
  • We have set up an alternate site for Rocky Mount team members to meet in person with our People team leaders for one-on-one support.
  • We have created a team member information hotline with updates on this tragedy and the opportunity to leave questions.
  • We are reminding team members about our Employee Assistance Program, which provides counseling and other health-related referrals. This program is available to all team members and can be called at.........

I hope all of the employees will be considered by the company and assisted as much as possible.  And more importantly - any safety lesson that can be learned so preventative measures could be applied for the future would be wonderful.  It was sad enough when it just seemed to be just property damage and possibly layoffs for many people.  Then to learn someone passed made it even sadder.

Someone dying is sad anyway, but this time of year it just makes it even sadder.  And this was likely one of their busiest weeks and likely more workers than say in June were probably present and working.  I guess it is a blessing it was not more people killed if you consider that.

I hope they can rebuild and employ any additional safety measures they can so people can get back to work.  Times are so tough right now who needs this?

Thanks for sharing this.  I am glad at least their immediate needs are being addressed.  These people and their families are in my prayers.
