DD & I left to run several errands this morning. She decided to go to the post office first. On the way out of town a young girl maybe 19 or 20 was along side her car with the flashers on waving her arms. She was about 1/4 from where we used to live in town.
DD stopped and she asked if we had cell reception. She was on her way to work and her car just stopped. She was 12 miles from home and 10 miles from work . She had a shirt on with the name of a restaurant we knew.
No cell service, of course. We took her to the gas station/convenience store in town and she called her Mom and then back to her car to wait for her.
She was beside herself, she said no one would stop. She kept thanking us. We told her it was no problem and it wasn't.
I know stopping can be dicey but had she been my young stranded kid I hope someone would help her.

Glad you were able to help. So many nut cases out there anymore. It could have ended badly for her.

@catter70 She was a very sweet kid. We offered to take her to work, or back home, but the car would not lock and she didn't want to just leave it.

Acts of Kindness, always appreciated and so uplifting to hear about!!!!

@spiderw We would not have felt right just driving by her, you could see she was upset.
As I said had she been my child I would hope someone would at least stop and offer to get to a phone for her.
Years ago there was a pay phone right where she stopped, it was taken out a very long time ago.

I'm glad that your act of kindness worked out well for all involved. But I believe the police advise in that kind of situation to call 911 and report the lady's situation. Then a patrol car will go out to help.
Criminals use the same kind of setup (young woman with an apparent breakdown) to lure unsuspecting motorists off the road to rob or carjack. When you pull over to help, her male companion(s) come out with guns. Again, I know you are a kind hearted soul and I'm glad that it all worked out.

@shoesnbags I know many criminals use a ruse. She came to our car and asked about a phone. DD didn't go near her car and we could see all around her vehicle that no one was lurking behind it.
Being we were in our car we could have taken off had someone approached. I made sure to be viligant, I watch way too much Dateline.

Nowadays it's a roll of the dice. I am glad all worked out well for all involved.

I wouldn’t have stopped but I would have called 911 to report that someone was in trouble and needed assistance. Why wasn't her cell phone working?
