@Love to Run wrote:Loved Rick James, but never saw him in concert. My favorite female vocalist of the 80's was his protege, Teena Marie, who I did see on stage. They both died too young.
My very first concert was Prince, Vanity 6, and the Time. What a night! I didn't know Prince was such a fabulous dancer until that concert, he was literally jumping off the speakers!
I saw Teena Marie, in concert at Pechanga Casino a few years before she died. She was awesome!!
Still had the pipes, and gave a great show. I miss "Vanilla Child".

This thread has brought back the memories.
I will start with Rick James, I never saw him in concert but I was a fan of his music as a teenager.
Teena Marie, Awesome concert and Vocals.
Luther Vandros, I saw him twice in San Diego in my Navy days. Great concert, he had the pipes.
Prince, I saw twice in concert in San Diego. One concert was Pre Jehovah Witness day. Fricking unbelievable. Man was he a musician and a performer, till this day I still say this was the best concert that I have ever attended.
The second concert was during his Jehovah Witness days. It was still a good concert but not like the earlier one, He would not perform certain songs, and let's face it. We love the "dirty" songs.

For all you Prince fans hopefully, you have smart tvs, Amazon Fire Stick and/or Roku. Here is a YouTube (unclickaable) copy/paste link of over 250+ LIVE Prince concerts playlists.
For those that do not click on links even if copy/paste, go to Youtube & in the search field type Prince Full Concerts.

The concerts were released on YouTube after Prince died. Previously, Prince did not allow ANY VIDEOS of his music on YouTube. He filed several lawsuits against YT when he found some. The uncensored "Sexy MF" video was the only lawsuit he lost I believe. Due to some loop-hole or somebody goofed, only the censored version was removed.![]()

@icezeus "The second concert was during his Jehovah Witness days. It was still a good concert but not like the earlier one, He would not perform certain songs, and let's face it. We love the "dirty" songs." **mic drop**
Not only did he not sing his dirty songs, he did not dance nor did his famous guitar phallus moves (which he sort of snuck in at his Super Bowl concert
). The last concert I went to (in Ga.), he mostly played the piano sitting down while singing. I believe around that time he was recovering from a hip operation. No dancing, no nasty songs I knew I was at my last Prince concert.

We have the same exact taste in music!
Just add Frank Sinatra and the Rolling Stones to my list.![]()
