@Mz iMac   In the 70s, my first husband and I went to a  B.B.King concert in Boston.

Luther Johnson opened for him and he was great.

Everyone waited and waited, B.B.King never showed up.

We were so disappointed. There were no refunds offered.

I had heard that he was not so reliable, having issues with several ex- wives, alimony and child support. All that probably drove him to drink or something.

@roeroe1005   I loved the dance music in the late 70's - 80's.

I loved the BeeGees, especially Barry Gibb. I liked a lot of the Disco music, funk and all the music videos that they played in the clubs in the 80's.

Donna Summer, the Queen of Disco, came from Dorchester,

MA, about 30 minutes away from where I live.

I really like all kinds of music except Rap and Country.

I'll take that back. I loved Rapper's Delight, the very first Rap song, before Rap devolved and became vulgar and denigrating to women.

Prince:

I saw him on the Purple Rain tour and again about 5 years before he died at a small jazz club in LA, one of those semi -secret informal sets that many musicians like to play.

I have family in Minneapolis. He is still revered there and locals have stories of meeting him around town, often riding his bicycle.

Rick James was such a talented man.  And another collaboration with him was Tina Marie.  I absolutely loved her.  She had such passion in her voice.  They had a very short personal relationship I have read but their musical association was much longer.  She died at a pretty young age.

Loved Rick James, but never saw him in concert. My favorite female vocalist of the 80's was his protege, Teena Marie, who I did see on stage. They both died too young.

My very first concert was Prince, Vanity 6, and the Time. What a night! I didn't know Prince was such a fabulous dancer until that concert, he was literally jumping off the speakers!

I never saw Rick James in concert.  But I did see my fav, Prince, in concert at his short-lived Club 3121 (Rio) in Las Vegas.  It was mostly a standing room only club, with a few tables on either side of the small stage.

Four of us bought tickets to see him in January 2007.  Once we were inside, we heard a couple in front of us had "upcharge" tickets.  For an extra $400 (remember it's 2007, probably $1,000 - $2,000 at a comparable club in Vegas today) you got an actual table and bottle service.  We looked at each other and practically said in unison, UPCHARGE!!

We were about 10 feet away from him.  We also got to see Maceo Parker(!) -- the saxphonist for James Brown, who toured with Prince in the early 2000's.

To this day, it was the most amazing, extraordinary music experience of my life.  Prince was exceptionally brilliant, Maceo was on fire, Prince's two dancers were amazing, etc.  During his entire set, he was generous, kind, and made sure we felt we he gave us the concert of our lives.  He did.

To this day I will swear that Prince smiled at me after one of my many screams and waves at him.  I'm sticking by that.

But my college days of the early 80's -- it was Rick James, Teena Marie, Peabo Bryson, and Luther Vandross on repeat.

@bikerbabe   I've always regretted that I never got to see him in Minneapolis at the club featured in the movie Purple Rain.

I didn't find out about Prince's Vegas club until after it closed.

You were so lucky!!!!  I would have been dancing on the table.
