Today, trying to avoid Super Bowl talk, I watched a lot of QVC. Hadn't watched more than a minute here or there in a long time. I so much enjoyed the calm, professional hosting. So this made me think back to the years and years that I watched (and loved) QVC and realized that I wasn't on the boards back then. I never used to get upset or even realize what the hosts hands looked like, or their hair. Just watched the presentations. Now I find myself nitpicking a lot. So...........I am going back to just paying attention to the product and maybe even buying something once in a while. I was even getting worked up about S &H which honestly isn't that far off the mark of a lot of other companies. So my new year resolution (a month late) is to be a kinder gentler soul on these boards and to watch the Q with an open mind. My own!!
For everyone in the path of the storm stay safe!!

I like the way you think Junebug. Enjoy your evening.

What a calm, peaceful attitude.

Go for it - QVC is way better than these forums give them credit for imo
After years and years of shopping, I've moved into senior citizen mode - research shows lots of us just don't shop as much as we once did. That's definitely true for me, but when I do shop, I still know how to make up my own mind.

What a refreshing post!

Yes, I agree! What a nice post!
I rarely watch any more, but I just don't have time. I loved the old days -- all the old hosts, the shows, how they staged things --- plus, of course, the prices --- but unfortunately, those days are gone.
The hosts now are just doing their job and they are doing their best. We may not like all of them, but that's life. Everyone can't like everyone, right?
I really don't try to make it personal. Just like when you go to a store, sometimes you get really good service and you think, oh, wasn't she just so nice? And then the next time, you get horrible service, and you think, man, wasn't she awful --- what a terrible attitude!!!!

Good for you Junebug. I have greatly reduced my television watching of almost everything as it appears to me that these so-called low-life being promoted as celebs actually were pulling judgment and criticism from me. Not like me really so I stopped watching. I noticed that with the Q hosts as well. Not healthy at all.

Sometimes it's good to take a step back. Avoided the super bowl myself yesterday and spent too much time watching gem network. Did a little damage, too.

I think what you're talking about is one of the effects of our over-connected society. Social media allows people to put forward a persona that isn't necessarily the truth and then to say anything they want without really being accountable. I find that reading these boards makes me aware of issues, some of which are faux, that I would never be aware of in my regular life. I get angry about things that I would not normally know about. I find the same with social media like Facebook. Once I get off of social media, my life seems much more positive. In general, I'm a simple, positive person. I don't really need to be exposed to everyone's unfiltered complaints or exaggerated boasts (a huge amount of social media posts are either one or the other). I always feel better sticking with the real-life people I know, people who can't say mean things without accountability or sugar-coat their lives because I see them in person. As people, I don't think we were ever meant to communicate with anyone and everyone who exists. We tend to form friendship groups for a reason; they support the kinds of life goals we have. I also limit myself to 30 minutes of news a day. Again, I like to be informed but don't feel I need to dwell on the negative and the unusual which is what the news is all about.
