Jean Auel (Clan of the Cave Bear)

I have read all of the books in this series so far. Does anyone know if she is writing another? I just read that Lifetime is doing a movie of her first book "Clan of the Cave Bear" with Ron Howard as one of the directors. I hope they do the whole series as I really enjoyed these stories.

There was a movie done back in 1986 I think which was just the first book - I hope they will adapt all of them

Book 6, The Land of Painted Caves, is the final book of the series.

I was so afraid of that. I was not happy with the way she ended this series - left so much up in the air and spent way too much time describing caves. I was hoping Ayla would find her first son again. I wanted to learn more about the rest of her life. Just me I guess.

Well, you never know. Sometimes authors change their minds and write more books in a series, but she's not a young woman and she seems to need a lot of time for each book.

I remember that movie. Daryl Hannah played the lead. I read two of the series and never read the rest (were there four)?

Yes, the ending was a real dud, and I, too, was wondering if she'd ever see her first son again.

Re: Jean Auel (Clan of the Cave Bear)

Did you know, that in preparation for writing Clan Of The Cave Bear, Jean learned how to do everything by hand that Ayla had to do for authenticity purposes. Such as skinning an animal, tanning the hides, making clothing from the fur, and literally everything in the stories that Ayla did, Jean did. She spent a very long time with experts in every field learning how to do these things, so that when writing about it she would have extremely accurate information about each thing so that her experiences would translate into authentic reading. she learned how to track animals, studied the history of wooly mammoths, etc., and as I said before, did every single thing that she could do or research that Ayla did. She spent about two years doing this before she wrote the actual final copy.

If anyone is interested in owning an autographed, 1st Edition of Clan Of The Cave Bear, with dust jacket, in mint condition, please reply. Thinking about selling mine, but I don't have a price quote at this moment.Think I have the following four as well, not autographed.

The Land Of Painted Caves, written in 2011, is the final book in the series. {#emotions_dlg.crying} That is a certainty.

Cave Bear is one of my favorite books !! {#emotions_dlg.thumbup1}

I read every book in the series....a long time ago. Loved them. I remember that there was a movie made from the first book but I purpose avoided the movie. There's no way a movie could do justice to those books.
