Wow, we never, ever eat at any franchise restaurants/fast food places. We eat only heathy and none of these foods are healthy. Eat lunches at home only and when we do go out we eat dinner only locally. I live small town America and will support my friends and neighbors.

I had an appointment with my regular Dr this morning.  Afterwards, mom and I went through the McDonalds drive through.  Surprisingly, they had a few deals.  Buy one bacon egg cheese biscuit and get another for $1 more.  Maybe since sales are down, places are offering more values.😃❤️

Today I did discover possibly a new way to "obtain food out" and this is 

a shop that offers "juices",

At least we would be talking about healthy here?

Its not exactly a MEAL, but fills me up and in a healthier way?

The man there said I can get deals and coupons through the app "CLOVER".

I've never heard of such a thing so I don't know if my husband got wrong information or what. A few nights ago we were talking about this eating out issue with high prices and low quality food. He said that with us being on Social Security, the government will give us money for food. I think he's wrong. And speak of the devil he just drove up LOL. Maybe he's confusing this with Medicaid. For you that have been on Social Security longer than we have, is that a thing? Thanks

Highly unlikely you would qualify for food aid, @monicakm.  It is for very low income seniors.

I have seen advertisements that say SS will give

assistance for food through a special program for seniors that are on a fixed income.  But I think that it is dependent on your income level.  

Some seniors of course, have a higher pay on their SS benefits.  They may also have pensions, so forth, and have the ability to pay for their groceries.  Some people are really struggling to pay for any basic needs, and I am sure they check into the individual's income to see if they qualify.

No, it's only for SSDI (Supplemental SS for  low income or disability.) I think he's referring to SNAP, which is food stamps, and one has to have a low income to be qualified. I doubt you be eligible unless you or dh get some form of disability.

Thank you ladies, that's what I thought.

We're going to pick up a grocery order in a little while and my husband asked if it was a big order and I said yes $250. Then I said well scratch that. It's really not a big order just a big price tag🤨

Every Saturday after grocery shopping we stop at Panda Express and get the three entree plate and share it, there is even enough for hubby to have for the next day so I get two days break from cooking.  Panda isn't my favorite but it gets me out of the kitchen and I like to nibble on yogurt and things anyway.

The nights I cook since its just the two of us I usually have enough for the next day.

Food prices, whether you cook at home or dine out, have gone crazy. Extra things are no longer an option for a lot of people. Go back 4 years and compare. Gosh, we were better off.
