If I don't have time to bake our local Wegmans bakery beats all the local bakeries.  We all love their their carrot cake and pastries.  They have a large selection of  breads and rolls.  I never go to their store hungry.  They are baking fresh all day long.

I SO miss Wegman bakery. All the bakeries in grocery stores down here (besides Fresh Market and similar) have all their stuff trucked in. They don't even make it in the bakeries. Coming from the north, I am used to having regular grocery stores make all the bread, donuts, cookies, cakes, etc.. and they are excellent. Luckily we are getting 2 Wegmans in 2017 and 2018 and I cannot wait @Gram W!

I make box mix cakes and homemade cakes all year. Every once in awhile it's nice to get a special cake already made, and especially in flavors I don't usually make at home.

I buy the Jr's 18 mini cheese cakes twice a year. This time I just went on auto delivery...just love them. Nice to have on hand for special treats for desserts for DH and I.

Last week I ordered the British cupcakes (hold onto your chair)...12 cupcakes for $47.56...for my B-Day next month. DH and I can't wait to try them...such unique flavor combos...such fun!

We also indulged in Emeril's crab cakes on A-D this year...YUM!!!

Everything else is bought with coupons matched with sales at our local grocery stores or WM. No harm in enjoying special treats once in awhile. We are only on this earth so long...splurging can be a good thing Smiley Very Happy

That is how I feel too and most of the cakes that I buy that are pricier are flavored @Susan Louise

I might have to order those cupcakes just for the sticky toffee pudding. They all sound wonderful though and flavors I haven't seen here even if the fancier cupcake places. I hope you post how you liked them! (or didn't)

@Irshgrl31201  I hope you won't wait to hear about my review since I ordered the 12/5 ship date...don't know if any will still be available then for you to order...so I suggest ordering sooner rather than later...

I checked with google maps and the small British bakery is near the south shores of Brighton Beach...very cool!

That flavor sounds devine too!!! Smiley Very Happy

If you're going to spend that much support your local bakeries. You'll pay less and contribute to your town's economy and a job for your neighbors.

It is not about the money many times.  It is convenience, a special treat and something you don't have the blankety- blank time or energy to cook.

Cake mixes are horrid to me.  I can taste the boxed artificial flavor in my mouth an

half hour after I eat them. Although I never turn down a piece of cake, whether it is boxed, homemade, bakery or a week old...nothing is like homemade.  Since I don't bake much anymore, I have four stellar bakeries to order from.  I love Smith island, almost any at NM, and a couple at Balboa.  They come frozen, and ready to thaw when I want it.  I think cakes are almost better after they have been frozen and thawed...so moist.  Now, there are some pretty lousy cakes for 60 bucks and some to-die for cakes as well.

IMO Barefoot Contessa had the best boxed mixes in the world.  They became to expensive for them to make and sell, so they quit.  Stonewall kitchen do have a natural boxed mix, but even they have cut back on all the interesting, unique favors.

I think for most of us, cakes aren't something served everyday.  For me  I serve one once a year, other than bringing one somewhere for a special event.  Most people light up when they see the cakes I purchase and they really love them.

Is this from a shopping channel? If so, then no. I have paid around that from a small, local bakery that makes amazing cakes. It has fresh fruit and fresh made whipped cream among other things. That is definitely money well spent.  I would only pay that for fresh made cake made from organic ingredients.

@Lila Belle Yes, you and anyone else has those options too. The local stores and merchants get our money most of the time. However, I chose other options when we want to. Your statement makes it seem as if that is expected 100% of the time. We all buy what we want, where we want and what makes us happy Smiley Happy

Gotta agree -- keep it local, especially with something like a cake.
