I have my grandparents ration book for food and fuel from WW2. Definitely interesting to look at.

They need to do this for paper products. I could see the stores themselves setting this up.

I remember my mom telling me about ration stamps during WWII.  She said people would trade or buy them from each other -- she never had enough nylon stamps, so she took an eyeliner pencil to draw a line up the back of her leg so it would look like she had on seamed nylon hose.
