DH & I got our Samsung phones delivered the same day thru an offer Verizon had. Our phone numbers were assigned by Verizon. From day one he has been getting spam calls. Its been three years since we got our phones. I just received my first spam call. I think his phone number was a recycled phone number.
We aren't big users of our cell phones, they are for our convenience and emergencies, so we don't answer calls from numbers we don't recognize.
I guess he could request a new number, but it is not worth the hassle of having to alert all the family members of a new number. He blocks the spam numbers as he gets them.
All our phone numbers are listed on the Do Not Call Registry, but in reality that doesn't do much good.

This morning I answered, and a woman started immediately trying to sell me something. She continued to talk while I was telling her I wasn't interested and hung up on her. This is so irritating. I like to give my cell phone # to people so they can easily reach me. I guess I'll have to start giving my home phone # again so that I can block the calls. Do the rest of you receive many spam calls on your cell phones?
No, because I never give it out other than to family. I always use my home phone which gets plenty of spam.
When I do get a spam call on my cell, I just mark it as spam so this number can never call me back and delete if from my log. I get my first 2 incoming minutes free so it doesn't cost me either. Old Sprint plan.
I'm the same way and I love to see the look on their faces when they ask if I have a cell number they can reach me at and I tell them no.

Yep. This is happening more and more. That's why I don't understand when people say they don't have a home phone to get these solicitation calls, as if that will be the end of them. The more you give your cell number out, the more you are going to end up with them on your cell phone.
"Rachel" from card services calls my cell number periodically. I don't answer but she always leaves a message. I get calls all the time from numbers I don't recognize and they leave no message so I'm assuming these are some type of spam. I just posted in another thread that I got a call on my cell from "Microsoft" claiming my computer was infected. The only reason I answered was because it appeared to be coming from my area code and we are having some remodeling done and I thought it was one of the companies we are using.

@country gal, blocking calls isn't through your carrier, it's an option on the phone itself. Most phones - androids, smartphones, flip phones have the option to block or reject calls.
I can go into Verizon Wireless, my carrier, and type in the number I want blocked. However, I am only allowed to block a certain number of telephone numbers.
Most of these spam calls just switch to another number and keep calling.
