I disagree. I think people will adjust to the new format and things will soon be back to normal. We went through the same thing in 2004. We weren't nearly as computer savvy then as we are now but we survived.

I think qvc did this to save money. I would really be surprised if the tech support or the moderators were located in the US. It's probably been outsourced to overseas or Central America. I would say Central America because I think that is now cheaper than countries like India.

Yes, if they wanted to shut the forums down, they would have done like HSN did and just obliterate them. I remember it being a VERY busy board back then. They did come back a long time later and reinstated what they have now (which is copied by Q for this new forum).
