The only thing I miss about a real tree is the wonderful smell.

There is something you can buy that you hang on the tree that gives you that pine smell. You can buy them at Home Depot.

I can picture them but can't think of what they are called. When I think of it, I'll post.

Just thought of it. Scentsicles. They really are nice.

Artifical trees and real wreaths hanging in the kitchen. That way we get the smell.

Re: Real or Artificial Christmas Tree?

I put WAY too many lights on my tree to do it every year and buy a real tree. I am not exactly sure how tall my tree is but I have over 50 strands of 100 white lights on it. I could not do that every year so I go with fake.

That sounds beautiful Clark.

I like a lot of lights too which is why most pre-lits never appealed to me. But neither did stringing all the lights so I now own a pre-lit.

Re: Real or Artificial Christmas Tree?

I had a friend that strung a ton of white lights on a real tree. She hated taking the lights off the tree so bad. She wound up throwing away the tree, lights and all. She did that for years.

Every time I turn the tree on my husband makes a noise like the electric company is using auxillary nuclear power to keep my tree lit.

I love lots of lights. I worked at a department store that did just beautiful trees at Christmas time and the florists and decorating team showed me how to string them in. It is so time consuming and I really hate it so now I pay my florist to do it. It is so worth the money for me.

I have two trees, one in my living room and one downstairs where we watch TV. I did the lights on the one downstairs. It is about 6 yr old and still going strong but the one in my living room my florist did. It is pre lit but he added a lot to it. When the one downstairs dies, I will ask him to do another.

We used to have real, now we have artificial.

Re: Real or Artificial Christmas Tree?

We went back to a real one last year, and I much prefer that over artificial. Probably because the fake one we had was not the greatest. Then you have the mess and wonder why you did it. I keep saying I'm going to get a good fake at the after-Christmas sales, but haven't done it yet.

Re: Real or Artificial Christmas Tree?

I have a relative who is a lightaholic and it takes her hours to do her lights. When she went to an artificial tree, she strung all the lights and decorated the tree. When x-mas was over, she took off all the decorations but left the lights on. I would help her carry the tree into her basement and she would cover it until next year.

She's back to real.
