Real. We chop our tree down every year during Thanksgiving weekend. It stays up til New Years and never sheds needles. Nice and fresh!

I want to add that Xmas trees are farmed-- they are grown just like crops.

No need to feel bad for them, they planted every year for the purpose of using for Xmas.

Artificial and they are up for about a month, so it's a good thing.

We used to cut our own tree down for years. Then we moved to buying precut for a few years. Then we found a gorgeous artificial tree at Costco. We bought it and used it for many years. The last year we used it, it had a section of lights konk out so we pitched it after Christmas. The last couple of years I've been in a mood and didn't feel like decorating. DH has missed the tree so I just ordered one the other day and received delivery today.

I had real trees until my kids grew up and moved out. Now they have real trees and we have an artificial and that is only because my days of hiking on a tree farm are over with my bad back. We have a 6&1/2 ft prelit tree. I really would like to downsize to 4 or 5 ft. but our tree is only 3 yrs old so it will do.

I prefer a real one, but have used artificial trees for at least the past decade. They're just so much easier, cleaner and less wasteful. Best of all, I can put it up when I want and take it down when I'm ready, and don't have to water it.

If I didn't have cats and no yard to speak of, I would prefer a live tree. We got them when I was growing up and then just planted them in the front yard at the end of the season. My parents finally got an artificial tree in the early 70's and still use that tree. It looks nothing like the artificial trees of today but once you put on lights, garlands and ornaments, I don't think anyone can tell the difference.

After we got the fake tree, we would go to the tree lots and get branches that had been trimmed off etc. for free so that the house smelled nice. That ended when they started charging for that stuff.

I have a tiny (12-15") artificial tree that I put on a bookcase. It's looks great and I enjoy it(plus it's no assembly and easy storage)

I'm really liking white trees for Christmas these days. Especially when I do my ALL Disney tree. A couple of hundred Hallmark Disney ornaments, several dozen matte red, blue, green 3" ball ornaments for filler and to give a cohesive look to the great variety of of the Disney Hallmark ornaments . . . and then a couple of years ago . . . I found the exact same shades, matte no less, of the green, red, blue ball garland . . . whereas the balls are like 1" or so diameter and spaced with gold smaller beads between . . . all in a revolving base so I can decorate the WHOLE tree. The colors just POP on the white background of the tree vs. getting lost in a traditional green tree.

I may buy another, but cheaper, white tree this year with a sorta less "full" look to use with my glass ornaments . . . I don't have that large of a collection of those, Old World Christmas & Radko mainly . . . but I think they'd look great too on a white tree as the glass ornaments are so colorful and sparkly . .. and with a less full tree branches . . . the better to see more of the ornaments . . . I found some glass Shiny-Brite Radko Garland at Tuesday Morning last week so bought 4 boxes of it . . . so I really need to do a pretty glass tree this year.
