Yes, they said they can be restarted if people want to. I'm sure they will.

I don't understand why they are going to delete them in January. They really didn't explain that.

Re: Re the changes in the BB regarding long standing threads

This is what they said:

At the start of the New Year we will be closing commenting for these long standing threads, which we hope you will restart and continue your conversations. Most survey participants want QVC to close these older posts after a certain time period (see results here). However the supporting comments really helped us make the decision to basically leave these long standing posts alone.

As many stated, these long standing threads are not hurting anyone and it does not make sense to close a forum that people continue to use. Hopefully the members who participate in these long standing discussions will not object to these posts ending at the start of every New Year with the option to start a new immediately.

***********

I don't know if that is correct that many participants want QVC to close the older posts. I think what people wanted was old unused threads to be closed because of the troll who bump them up for entertainment.

agreed.

I am sadden that some threads are going to be "shut" down because a few people dislike seeing them show up on the first page.

I agree. I mean, are THAT many people REALLY "bothered" by them. It seem ridiculous for them to get rid of them, to me. I'm not on any of those threads, but they have NEVER bothered me while posting or scrolling.

I wish they would leave mocha's Multiple Myeloma thread. Those ladies have shared personal, emotional experiences with one another. Some of their loved ones have passed.

There is no reason to get rid of it, imho.

You're correct that they can be restarted September but there will also be a loss. Many of the long standing threads are a history.

As I posted to someone earlier today, I'm just hoping that the thread will remain archived when the new one starts. It is interesting to go back in time and review the changes that we have all undergone, to see gains made and ground lost over the years.

The thread I'm referencing lost over two years of history when the original thread was poofed because of someone with a grudge against one of the regulars. That history can not be recaptured.

I agree and I posted on the Community thread that the webbies posted asking why they were going to remove the long standing threads. I suggested that they hadn't explained it very well since they agreed they were harmless and people could restart them.

I had no idea, Marp2. Now that is a nasty poster who should have been banned !

Re: Re the changes in the BB regarding long standing threads

I don't think they've made it clear about the long-standing threads. They said they will be closed for comment, and people can start new ones. But they haven't specifically said if they will be deleted. I wouldn't mind them being closed, but not deleted. Two of the ones I like to go back to and browse through older posts are the "Pictures of Just Cats" and the other one "Thank you Webbie-We can post pictures now!" And Sammycat1's thread about Schmoo...I hope that would not be deleted. I'm sure there are others that people would not want to see deleted.

Is anyone clear about this-will they just be closed for comment, or deleted entirely? I've read the info on how they're going to handle things, but I just haven't found a clear answer on this. {#emotions_dlg.confused1}

Maybe Webbie will re-consider and leave those threads alone. Smiley Happy)

Re: Re the changes in the BB regarding long standing threads

Maybe everyone should post on the community thread and ask these questions.

http://community.qvc.com/blogs/q+did+what/topic/460897/community-update.aspx?cm_re=PROMOTIONS-_-com...

Dmod and I have already done so. If more people ask, perhaps we will get a better explanation and perhaps they will change their mind?
