ITA.

It's unbelievable that anyone would defend his actions. He could've killed her.

He's a professional football player and is at least 2x her weight, taller, and far, far stronger.

No matter what she may have done (and I've only heard that she spat on him), she was completely unable to defend herself from him.

IMO, it's like saying an adult has the right to punch out a child if the child spits or kicks them.

When do we ever approve of a larger person attacking a smaller person?

Who here defended him?

Everyone and anyone who took a thread on Rice and turned it around into a slam against women. Plus this post...

His wife reinstates him.

The NFL reinstates him.

Smack your wife around, who cares?

I don't think anyone is condoning his actions. No man should hit a woman. But, there is a breaking point for everyone. I think both of them acted irrationally. If someone has been drinking, acting irritated or angry, it is best not to pour salt in the wound and make the situation worse. Common sense should tell you that.

So they both have some responsibility. I hope they are working things out.

Yes...strong men being slapped by a drunk woman would "just take it."

A truly strong man would have held her hands at her side or found another way to de-escalate the situation.

A strong man NEVER makes a fist and knocks a woman out cold...and then drags her body by the legs.

You don't seem sympathetic to women. Why is that?

He didn't drag her by the legs. Were you watching same video the rest of us were?

First she came at him and he moved to the other side of the elevator, she then came at him again and he hit her. Both seem to be brawlers and both are equally guilty of assault.

So, if a small man goes after a large man the large man has no right to defend himself?

Women want equal rights when it comes to jobs and pay but they want extra rights when it comes to assault, they can hit, kick, spit on, slap... any man and he's supposed to just take it.

Anyone who assaults another, no matter size, deserves what they get. The exception to that is a child or adult with diminished mental capacity.

Do you just post outrageous things to get a rise out of people???

No sensible person can possibly condone what he did to his wife.

terrier 3 - That is what I'm saying true abusers just abuse so I guess we are in agreement on that!! If the female is the one who willfully attacks the man over and over - well that is craziness on her part and not true domestic abuse as she is setting the man up. It's a ploy to punish the man who isn't supposed to touch her! I have seen many men who could not escape these women or they would be accused of physical abuse. One woman I worked with took pictures of every bruise, cut , etc she ever had and none were the result of abuse. She was in essence blackmailing her husband and when everyone is so quick to blame the man, he was held hostage in the relationship! Neither the male nor the female should ever raise a hand to the other. If a man is supposed to control himself - in the world of equality the female needs to practice this also. I have seen too many manipulative females in my life to automatically blame the male.

As a counselor, I see probably 8 cases of males abusing women vs. 2 of women abusing their partners.

That you've seen any men who have admitted to being abused by a woman is surprising. While some woman are embarrassed to admit to being abused most men would never admit it.

I had a neighbor whose wife was abusive. One summer evening I was sitting outside, their windows were open, the husband had just gotten home from work and I could hear her screaming at him and hitting him. He retreated into the bedroom closest to my home and closed the door holding it shut while she tried to kick it in. When she was unsuccessful, she called the police and accused him of abusing her.

The police came; they were outside with her crying and giving them this sad story about what he did to her. I wasn't about to sit there and listen to her lies so I told the police what really happened. Guess what, she came after me and the police had to restrain her.

What if I hadn't spoken up, that man would have spent the night in jail.

I feel the public anger is being mis-directed. The disgust I have for him is equal, if not GREATER, to his wife. They way she is handling this is beyond words. The line forms to the left for people & organizations to help her & make this horrible thing a POSITIVE, but she wants to wallow in the negative. Toxic, toxic relationship for both parties involved.
