I purchased an Oragami rack from HSN for about $135.  On that day HSN had a 20% Family and Friends coupon.

I received an email from Rakuten mentioning that HSN had the 20% Family and Friends coupon and Rakuten was offering 4% cash back for HSN purchases.

I purchased the rack and went to Rakuten through the email I received from them mentioning the HSN 20% Family and Friends coupon.   I received the maximum HSN discount for Family and Friends ($25.00) and it also showed that I would received $10 cash back from Rakuten.

About 3 days later, the $10 for this HSN purchase was removed from my Rakuten account.

As I'm new to Rakuten, do you have any ideas as to why they removed the $10 cash back?

Thank you!

@BunSnoop   something similar was happening to me on Mr Rebates. I kept sticking with them because I had been with them so long. Whenever I asked why something disappeared I was told because I used some kind of discount code. I signed up for Rakuten last week.

I know with Mr Rebates you can't use a coupon that they don't offer thru their site and get credited for the rebate, which is most with HSN.  But if the coupon WAS offered thru Rakuten then I don't see why it wouldn't be honored and you would have to contact them.

@Tique I've been with Mr Rebates for years and I've had tons of issues with my HSN rebates for about the last year (Only HSN) but it's been more than using discount codes/coupons.  Even tried changing browsers.  I may have to try another rebate company - Rakuten, BeFrugal, or TopCashBack.

I always wonder why customers used Rakuten. They offer the lowest cash rebate compared to Topcashback and Befrugal. I never use them. Also, Rakuten keeps  your cashback until it reaches a certain level.  If you don't purchase enough on their site, you are in limbo forever.

To answer your question, I think it is about the coupon HSN offered and conflicts with their policy.

I no longer use Rakuten because about a year ago I started to lose rebates from HSN (some QVC too). I contacted Rakuten and they said it was because I used an HSN coupon code so the rebate was denied. 🤷

I now use Top Cash Back and it was great. But recently almost all of my HSN purchases have been declined. QVC is still (so far) working.

I haven't purchased anything this month but all of my August purchases minus 2 from HSN have been declined.

The 2 that haven't been paid out yet are still showing pending even though they go back to August 6th.

These rebate sites used to be great. Emphasis on used to be.

If a coupon is posted on a rebate site then it is supposed to be allowed to use and still get your rebate. I always get my rebates from HSN even using codes that are not posted on the rebate site, , but in any case if it was posted the credit should be yours. Rakuten has very nice CS. I do agree, I use 6 different rebate sites and I go with whoever is offering the most the day of my purchase, often it is Top Cashback which is now 11% from HSN.

Rakuten sends checks out in the mail every 3 months as long as you have reached a $ 5 balance.

Other sites do have higher cash back amounts than Rakuten, but I've had so many problems with them, especially Top Cash Back that I stick with Rakuten.  I've never had anything not show up.  They also have Grubhub and Instacart which we use frequently.
They don't keep your money until you get to a certain amount.  They do keep it for the quarter and then you get a nice amount--I get it credited to PayPal.  Don't have to do anything.  It could be $5.00 which is the minimum with no maximum so you're never in limbo.

I use Rakuten, Extrabux, Mr Rebates, RetailMeNot, Be Frugal, Top Cashback, whoever is offering me the most at the time of my purchase.
