I think part of the anger against Rachel is because she was in effect wearing "blackface". I consider this form of masquerading as a different racial identity to be insulting.

First of all I don't think anyone is "outraged" about Rachel. It's just a curious story, but not one of a kind. Secondly, if you know your history, you know white people were more than outraged by those who passed as white, and you also know the reasons why it was easier for blacks if they could pass for white due to the abject racism and discrimmination that existed in this country... and apparently STILL does. 


Same thing, lying to get something one is not entitled to receive. Actually, I find it discriminatory to have awards, financial benefits... based upon race.
