gidgetgh,

My Mom taught us this as children and I still try to say it every month. I miss some months because sometimes I talk to my cat first - lol!

i grew up in the country, in Hawaii.

I’ve heard of it, but I usually forget.

Does  it have to be said first thing in the morning?....I just said it now as soon as I saw your thread,  so I hope that it isn't too late!...I added a hop also as  @Suziepeach  suggested and I wiggled my nose too, so I've covered all bases!...LOL

@gidgetgh   Yes I do and have since I was very, very little--as a toddler maybe?  Born in New Jersey, lived in CT from age eleven, school friends in CT knew about it too.

Still observe the custom and usually don't forget to say it out loud first thing!

I also have never heard of this. It did remind me that we used to have a "lucky rabbit's foot" in our house growing up. It was fuzzy and we would hold it and rub it for good luck, but that is all I can remember about it. I have no idea what happened to it, or if it ever worked.

I have never heard of this phrase on the 1st of each month.

The only good luck, calendar associated event I recognize is to eat black-eyed peas for the New Year.

It can hurt to say it, right?
