@Cakers3

Woolworths didn't have a listening booth.  My other choice was a store with musical instruments.

I received a Christmas gift called "Little Red Spinning Wheel" a plastic mock spinning wheel designed to make those cords.

@Cakers3   Oh, yes.  My grandmother made the spool with nails and taught us how to do it. When it was long enough we made them into hot pads.  This brought back some great memories!

@ECBG   My bad typing-I did mean a different music store, not Woolworth's.  It was a store with musical instrutments, the listening booth, records, and sheet music.

The four nails eventually morphed into this:

What Is Loom Knitting and How Does It Work?

I had both; the prehistoric and the ancient.  I think I morphed some of my creations into slinky Barbie dresses.

I thought those were neat, but that was 1965.  I would be in HS a year later.

Re: REMEMBER THESE?

[ Edited ]

In the late sixties my sister had a plastic spinning wheel that made those ropes.  We made doll rugs, and not sure what else we made with them.. We made tons of those ropes.  Memories!

@Gorgf   I had to look it up.  Remco little red spinning wheel, 1961.  Yep, that was it.  We played with it for HOURS! I’ll have to remind my sister of that.
