I should probably remember this but I don't. I also did the pot holders and also made chains out of gum wrappers (but don't remember how it was done).

I remember the form and making pot holders but I don’t know where the pieces came from, I was so young.
I do remember buying my 45 records at Woolworth.

@Oznell wrote:@Cakers3, we had a candy store near school too. Love that nostalgic candy-- little round "dots" on paper, licorice "pipes" (?), jujubes, taffy, et al.
@VanSleepy, I think you could do things with the rope, like wind it around, over and over, and sew together to make hats, or place mats and other things. All I can remember is making the 'rope' longer and longer, without any clear 'end game' in mind, ha.
@Oznell The dots on the paper. LOL I think we ingested some paper with each dot, too.
Mary Janes, Bonomo Turkish Taffy, Fireballs, cinnamon hots, I'm sure we could list so many retro candies!!!

@shoptilyadropagain Yes! Another flashback. I remember how to fold the wrapper and how to insert them to make the chain. How much gum we had to chew back then. Arggh!
It's a wonder we still have teeth. LOL

@ECBG There were record stores back then with listening booths to see if you wanted to purchase a particular record.
Woolworths was always a first stop when we went "downtown". Records, Cover Girl, Bonnie Bell, Maybeline-all the essentials for young teens.
Remember these for the 45's?

I made my share of potholders back in the day. I also remember making flowers out of tissue paper with pipe cleaners as stems. They were actually very pretty.

We also made flowers by dipping in resin(?). There were different brands at the time. We shaped the flower with wire then dipped it.

@Cakers3 that shows how uncreative I must be. I never would have thought that rope could be turned into those cute things 😊

Had a disconnect from reality when I was going to have the grands hammer their own nails and make one.
Rest in peace wood spools 🥲
