Have been buying from Amazon for years, and comparing their Customer Service to the tons of others! I have dealt with many over decades, going back to Mail Order merchandise.
There is not a single one that comes even close when it comes to getting orders, or delivery tissues, corrected to my satisfaction. I call every single dealer that has the guts to publish their phone number. Nowadays, It's usually go to "live chat" or "www. toobad.com".
Talked with an Amazon Rep last night about an order my wife had bought. I always call because she is quick to get irritated, and I am not. I have always found I have more success by speaking calmly, while at the same time being upset.
It took me about 5 minutes to get her problem rectified to her satisfaction. As far as delivery times? We are Amazon Prime, yet with the supply chain issues? That problem falls to a different entity than Amazon.
Glad you feel better with your vent. That's what forums are for at times.

I have never had a problem. If I need to return items I go to Kohls nearby. And if the product comes damaged, shattered, etc. Amazon gives me credit, no return needed. If the product is not what was expected, they tell me to donate and they give me credit back. This does not happen often but when it does I feel safe and comfortable that I am dealing with the right place.

I don't get what the warning is either?

Here's the warning--If you order something fragile and want it to arrive in one piece instead pieces from Amazon add a note in the delivery instructions---to be sure to pack the item carefully, mark it fragile, and instruct the delivery person not to throw it against your front door-These steps just might have your fragile item arrive safely!

One good thing about Amazon is that they will make it right! Their customer service is next to none. Are they perfect? No. Don't know about their tentacles (over dramatization) but I don't think the problem was with Amazon per se. I think it was with the shipper and delivery person.

I wasnt nasty just FIRM, and the Rep's initial solution was not acceptable....It was their error and mishandling and yet they failed to take responsibility. Her solution to have a replacement sent out 2 weeks later was just adding insult to injury-afterall I have prime! Funny after saying her solution didnt resolve the issue sufficiently she then offered prime delivery so the item was even in stock This is NOT good customer service from the self proclaimed #1 Retailer in the world. And I had already checked with BOTH Home Depot and Lowes and neither had the bulb I needed.....Believe me Id rather have dealt with either of them instead of Amazon...I have always gotten good service from those companies! And it was shipped from Amazon warehouse and saw an Amazon truck drive off so it was Amazon employees....
As far as tentacles --Ever heard Bezos interviews--and how he's expanded into not only retail, but now the grocery business, medical insurance, pharmacueticals, banking, IT, broadcasting and the entertainment industry, this extends their influence pretty far..NOT an exaggeration and then he's also wanting to get into sports broadcasting with NFL Thursday Night games too--gee whats left--oh yeah, MARS---😉😄
Surprsingly, QVC's Customer Service has been more responsive and fast on fixing things than "mighty" Amazon!

I hear what you are saying. That's what was so surprising...I have had situations occur with other companies...things do happen...Example, I was sent a wrong item by Collections Etc and they told me to keep the merchandise, and if I didnt want it to donate it to a local charity....and then she said they would send my order out by priority delivery (didnt need to ask, the CS Rep offered this, and was very apologetic)---what a difference from this Amazon Rep....but it could be after hearing how Amazon treats their employees that could be part of the problem too---Have a nice day!

I have had broken items delivered to me by amazon or whoever and they have taken care of it without all the drama. to me the way you described how you talked to the cs rep was mean and petty I don't think you sat in the dark without those light bulbs I am sorry but I guess I feel I need to vent too

@qualitygal She explained in her original post why she doesn't buy new lamps.

Amazon CS has always been quite nice with me. I’ve never had to return a broken order ( happened once). I don’t call. I use the chat feature.
I’m sorry you had a bad experience. I would not have shouted at the rep on the phone.
Good point, now if the Rep had offered some sympathy and empathy and was nice rather than sounding annoyed and bothered by me calling I would have been a bit more accomadating.......at least she liked my suggestions 😉
@Spurt Did you sound annoyed and bothered to the rep? I don't care what they sound llike as long as my problem is fixed and I have never had an issue with Amazon.
I will say I have had Walmart, Costco, and other places send me cans of stuff and breakable stuff all thrown in a box with no padding. It's what you get sometimes these days and all of us are not always catered to now. But that's life. And life going forward is different.
