You said it well. I'm non-religious so, other than that part of it, I TOTALLY agree with what you and MominOhio said.

It just always bothered me when people took credit for good deeds. It always rather negated the whole 'good deed' aspect of it for me.

Thanks! I know some of us are religious and some not, for us who are its in the Bible (Matthew 6, Proverbs 27 etc) not to blow our own horn though, for ones who are believers. :-)

When I was younger, I always saw my parents performing random acts of kindness, so it's in my DNA.

SO agree...Nothing is more precious than compassion and kindness...

I remember the week before Christmas...I was downtown seeing the Christmas light show that evening...Then on my way home I just started crying in the car...I was all alone...overwhelmed with emotion...I was thinking about my dad who is deceased and how much i was missing him at the holidays...and thinking of how precious this time is with my mom,who is now ill , and I am here taking care of her...

So I had to stop at Walgreens on the way home...it was dark and so cold...I still had some tears streaming down and I sat there outside The store on a bench trying to collect myself before going in...a very emotional night...I then felt someone rubbing my shoulder from behind and it was a woman who had come over with her dog...She just wanted to wish me a Merry Christmas...The dog hopped on the bench and started kissing on me...

I know she brought her cheer and dog over because she sensed I may need some cheer...I cannot tell you what that act of kindness meant to me...it was EVERYTHING in that moment...tears turned to peace and laughter...

I wont forget that...kindness and love...wow...it really changes everything...

In this New Year I want to give more of my heart to everyone...known and unknown...

I see that this topic has had 618 views ... I would guess that some have thought, "that is a good idea" and just moved on without adding their thoughts ... That is fine ... The seed has been planted ... And there will come a time when the opportunity will arise where, without stopping to think, they will do something that will make someone's day ... They will feel so good about themselves it will be the start of a habit ... Bluegrassbaby. I think we just made a small dent ...

I agree...and that time 'will' come just when you least expect it.....there's no need to go purposely looking. Seize the moment when you have the chance....we don't get second chances in life.

Be the difference in sunshine or rain in someone's life .
