When I buy an item, I pay through paypal, and the seller sends the item only after they receive a paypal confirmation, and only then. Beware of this buyer.

This time he got emails that looked like they were coming from e Bay and paypal saying the buyer had paid but it would be pending shipment.
At the very bottom of the email was a name and Nigerian address. Weird thing was that he has an app on his phone for e Bay and paypal and these didn't register the payment so that's what made him suspicious. He got emails that the sale was done but no notification through his apps. He forwarded the emails to me and they really LOOK just like they came from eBay and Paypal but they're a scam - he called both and verified they're fake.
Sheesh. I've never had a problem buying and selling on e bay and he's had this happen twice.
I've read a little on the eBay help forums, when searching for something else . . . how fraught the electronics buying and selling is . . . high dollar high value items . . . you ship a perfectly working item . . . they return a broken & ruined item and eBay stands behind the buyer. I couldn't do it. I would not have the patience to deal with all the dishonesty . . . I've had one bad buyer in my years of dabbling in eBay with collectibles, he/she, I think it was a he, claimed "not as described" and smoke damage and tried to get me to refund partial price with the promise to leave positive feedback, I knew it was false so I said return it . . . they fought that too . . . finally they returned it, they had cut open the bottom of the box . . . re-taped and marked top & label refused return to sender. eBay still sided with buyer. I said you can't do that, against post office regulations, so either you opened it and broke their regulations and cheated the post office out of return postage to see the supposed smoke damage OR you didn't open it and cheat the post office . . . can't have it both ways. Even with photos and photos of the inside of the items mint box . . . white as snow. Then left negative feedback which with a phone call to eBay I was able to get removed . . . as they had "blackmailed" with the feedback threat in the multiple messages sent back thru the eBay mail system. It just made me so mad and I lost a little sleep that week over the undeserved feedback and treatment . . . So no way could I sell electronics on eBay! Sellers are at a disadvantage between eBay and PayPal and now with the ridiculous 180 day return policy with PayPal. Heck only Costco and Kohl's do that . . . or more . . . and NOT on electronics for sure.
Qwackertoo I would have taken it to the post office and told them about the fraud and taken emails that proved the buyer had opened it!
I should have. This buyer was so abusive in the email . . . something with the name of saracaticsteve or something like that . . . and when I brought it up that he had cheated the post office and committed fraud . . . WHOA . . . that really set him off!!! His name truly fit him. And IF I had read his "buyers" feedback . .. I should have canceled the auction when he won . . . it was obvious after reading his feedback he had done this before.
