Re: Question about Monistat.

Irshgrl, I hope you feel better quickly.

My son is a PA and worked in the ER for 3 years before switching to critical care. Serenity4ever is right - they've seen it all. Nothing embarrassing about seeking treatment when you're suffering. They are trained for this. Go and get relief!

ETA I always take probiotics after a round of antibiotics - you could try that to help restore your natural balance of bacteria in your body. Just an idea of something you could try going forward.

Re: Question about Monistat.

Oh you poor girl, That is the most awful miserable kind of discomfort. Those dang antibiotics really can do a number .I sure hope by tonight you are back home feeling way better. I've not had a problem with monistat, I think the fast acting one is the one I used.Keep us posted, hope you are much better soon.

Re: Question about Monistat.

Yikes. I mean, I don't think there's a worse place for pain! :-/ :-0 Hope you get some relief. I was going to suggest a cool bath, washing with very mild soap, and an ice pack. I'm not kidding! I've only ever had UTI's (omg, mine go from zero to ninety in an hour!), so I'm not much help, but I hope they can help at the ER. Trust me, they have seen far, far worse!!!!! Trust. Me. Smiley Wink

Have you used Monistat before without difficulty? It's possible that you're having a reaction to the Monistat -- or that you have another type of infection or condition (something Monistat doesn't help) which is causing pain and/or making the tissues very sore and susceptible to irritation. Did your doctor prescribe Monistat, or did you buy a fungal remedy OTC? Surely your doctor's office has someone on call?

I took antibiotics about two weeks ago for something unrelated. The doctor called in Diflucan for me but it didn't totally work. I called my gyno this week and she told me to take OTC Monistat. I called her office right after I used it and it was a VM with no one on call. I took a shower then took a sitz bath and it actually feels worse.

I am just super embarrassed to go to the ER with this but I am in so much pain now that I will get over it.

Thanks everyone!

Is the pain eternal or internal, for the external areas you could use some zinc oxide ointment, its very soothing.

Or if its still early where you are and a walk in clinic is open that might be an option

Good luck and I think all of the women on the board can sympathize with you

Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and start being positive what could go right.

That's the Monistat tube for chafing. I used to use that, too.

Re: Question about Monistat.

Gosh, I wonder how common this kind allergic reaction is. How in the world can you know if this will happen.....This is horrible ,to get a chemical burn on top of an already miserable situation ):
