Re: Question about Monistat.

If you have a tampon, you can use it to try and remove some of the creme. Also a natural douche will help.

It may be an allergic reaction. ER might be your safest bet.

SIDE EFFECTS: Burning, stinging, swelling, irritation, redness, pimple-like bumps, tenderness, or flaking of the treated skin may occur. If any of these effects ...

Yes, I have all of these beside the last one but I just did it an hour ago. I threw out the safety pamphlet that came with it so I couldn't check on adverse reactions. I am getting dressed and going up now. How embarrassing. Seriously, it feels like I douched with boiling water and crushed glass. Sorry if that is TMI but I am in too much pain to care!!

Goodstuff made a good point. call your doctors office he or she should be on call and head to the ER. I am sorry you have to go through this. we all have things happen to us don't be embarrassed. <3

Have you used Monistat before without difficulty? It's possible that you're having a reaction to the Monistat -- or that you have another type of infection or condition (something Monistat doesn't help) which is causing pain and/or making the tissues very sore and susceptible to irritation. Did your doctor prescribe Monistat, or did you buy a fungal remedy OTC? Surely your doctor's office has someone on call?

I took antibiotics about two weeks ago for something unrelated. The doctor called in Diflucan for me but it didn't totally work. I called my gyno this week and she told me to take OTC Monistat. I called her office right after I used it and it was a VM with no one on call. I took a shower then took a sitz bath and it actually feels worse.

I am just super embarrassed to go to the ER with this but I am in so much pain now that I will get over it.

Thanks everyone!

Antibiotics always do that to me. One of the many reasons I hate taking them.

Irish, go to the ER, stat. Don't give a second thought about it and don't be embarrassed. They see everything in the ER and will probably find out exactly what is wrong by taking a culture. You might even have a UTI which sometimes accompanies a yeast infection or it could be something else. The pain you are describing is worthy of a visit to the ER. You also have an underlying chronic health condition, so best to be safe...

I hope you feel better very soon....{#emotions_dlg.wub}

Re: Question about Monistat.

You could try a colloidal oatmeal bath but it sounds like you need to go to the ER if you can't contact your doctor.

It's always a victory for me when I remember why I entered a room.

Re: Question about Monistat.

Get thee to the ER. As someone said, they've seen it all, and if the pain and inflammation is as bad as you describe (I'm sure it IS), you shouldn't let it go -- especially since trying to bathe the product out didn't help. Allergic reactions can be pretty serious sometimes.

Hope you feel better quickly.

Re: Question about Monistat.

DON"T DOUCHE!!!! It could wash the product further in and cause you more inflammation. Get yourself to the ER, and don't be embarrassed whatsoever. That is what doctors and nurses are there for, and trust me, there isn't much they haven't seen before. Hope you feel better soon!!!!
