Just recently posts have been deleted for posting a picture of an item at another retailer, so they are deleting for mentioning other products without links or codes. Here is an example:

Like anything else around the Forum they are inconsistent......One time sometime asked about a vacuum that did a good job with pet hair, all I did was mention the brand and model name.....no store, no actual model number and no price....but it was deleted ......

The mod said pictures from a catalog had been posted. I'm assuming that was without permission of the catalog company, which means it's a copyright violation. Why should QVC get into trouble with another firm because of what a poster does?
I would bet if what was posted was clearly a photo taken by a poster themselves, of something they own (and not a photo of a print catalog or computer screen), it would not be deleted.

Technically, by name, you are correct…the parent company of QVC is Liberty Interactive and it owns 100% of QVC & 38% of HSN. I stand corrected on not using the parent company’s name. For the purposes of supplying information related to the PO’s question I don't see how it makes a difference. But you get a gold star for accuracy.

And note the reason was pictureS, not "a" picture. There used to be a poster who posted pages and PAGES of photos here all the time. I've always been surprised they allowed that. There is such a thing as overkill and pushing boundaries. I'm glad QVC is finally deciding uh-uh.

Exactly, just as QVC does not own Zulily. It too is owned by Liberty.

I don't mind having moderators delete photos from another retailer's catalog. It's QVC's website, so it's up to them what they will allow or not allow. For me, the issue is consistency. While this particular post was deemed unacceptable, at the same time there were dozens of other similar posts that didn't get deleted, and dozens of other similar posts have appeared since then. Those photos also were featured in other companys' catalogs and on their websites, so one might think the copyright issue would apply to those situations as well. How are we supposed to know what can be posted and what can't, or in this case which retailers are fair game? I agree with @Moonchilde that sometimes there is overkill, so I don't blame moderators for stepping in. I just think there should be more consistency.

This post has been removed by QVC because it's political.

I will never understand their logic in deleting some of these items.
Here is the link to QVC’s parent company stating their 38% ownership in HSN:

Wait, what? I did not know that. My entire belief system is shattered. Lol.
