Re: QVC should change their name along with everything else

@kaydee50, I'm not picking on you at all, I'm just curious how you can be so sure there are millions of QVC viewers? I find that an odd thing to say. Perhaps in the past, it may have been true, but in the last couple of years, I don't think so. I may be wrong, perhaps while on Covid lockdown people were watching,
it's possible.

Re: QVC should change their name along with everything else

QVC is a disaster and has been for a very long time.  You can go back probably 2 years or more and see all the shipping issues posters were having, long in process times, items being backordered, etc.  It has continued to get worse.  For how many years now have we read complaints from posters and warned to make sure to keep track of your returns because even if you pay for the return on your own, the return label fee was being deducted.  That has never been corrected and is still happening.  It just happened to me and I had to spend time contacting Q to get my additional credit.

I am very upset that these boards are going away but in reality, this is a very outdated format.  It takes manpower to monitor these boards and how many times are Mods "called upon" over issues people are having with the boards?  Some day I would go into the Customer Care or Q Talk form and it was thread after thread calling out Mods because notifications weren't working, something was wrong with someone's font, posters were accusing QVC of charging them a restocking fee because they still didn't know how returns worked, they couldn't cancel an order (after they swore off buying 5 times prior for the very same reason) and on and on it went.

Addressing these issues takes time and I'm betting the mods had multiple duties.

Perhaps this format of chatting is no longer going to be supported by whatever company created it and Q's choice is to upgrade to something different or get rid of it and they are choosing to get rid of it.

Overall, the posters on this board have become fewer and fewer.  Some days there are barely any new posts, let alone topics and this board always seemed to have a lot of kinks and propblems.

Speaking of Denim & Co, and such, I actually have some D&C clothes that I purchased so long ago they were made in the US.   Possibly some others, too.  But it has become odd to look at a label and see that.

So why not change the name to reflect the new day?

I used to be assurred that anything I bought from QVC would be quality--like the Denim and Co pants I've bought for 30 years.  Now?  Crummy, terrible material and ill fitting.

Phone operators were wonderful and fixed issues quickly and efficiently.  Now?  I have to e-mail to get someone.

Now?  I can't cancel anything no matter how delayed shipping will be.  Now I can't be assurred I'll even get things I ordered.

So from a friendly, customer oriented we have wound up with just another big internet face of a company whose policies and practices are suspect.  I was thinking that going forward it's just another internet site.  QVC as I new and enjoyed it doesn't exist any more.

 It's a shame but things change.   I would bet people like Mary Beth and David will be out the door soon.  They don't fit the new corporate model in any way.

@Sooner

LOL ... too bad you didn't suggest a new name for them.

BTW ... why did you single out Mary Beth and David of all the hosts?

@Tinkrbl44 Because of all the hosts they seem more to think about the customer and not just blather a sales spiel.  They do seem to remember the basic success model of QVC.  Which was not giggling and yakking among themselves.

@Lipstickdiva

I agree with you.  My thinking is that the new CEO competed with many other candidates to land his new job.  I assume each candidate had to outline innovative changes he/she'd make to increase QVC's bottom line.  I believe the entire objective in a CEO being selected is to increase the bottom line of the company in favor of the stockholders.

In thinking of ways to distinguish himself, perhaps he was the one who did the financial analysis on the cost/benefit of the community forum and, as you point out, determined it was a money drain without enough "goodwill" points to offset the financial output.  Therefore, when he was selected, he implemented his proposal.

I'm sure the executive committee understood there would be aggressive pushback from those who enjoyed posting on the boards and they factored that dynamic into their decision to abort anyway.

Onward and upward!  Let's see if this new CEO can breathe some new life into QVC!  It certainly could use a deft management's hand in addressing the many issues that have convinced me (for the most part) to shop elsewhere.

Re: QVC should change their name along with everything else

Just waiting for the day the 2 Companies merge.

Everything is duplicated from one channel to the other.  It's not that the average customer doesnt know they are owned by one group.

The supply chain is shrinking and there's just not enough product to sustain both channels and all the expenses that both incur.

So much more food since the both are glorified order takers, that's a good product to sell since there isn't any inventory to store nor do they need any workers to ship the product out.

This is pretty serious, I'm sure we'll see more and more of this happening in the upcoming months, skyrocketing prices and no supply.  This is a mess people and it's more serious that anyone can imagine.

"changed management, changed the focus of the company as stated by them, changed policies, changed corporate culture and doing away with the customer via the customer community here."

Bingo!

Not at all surprising, the new direction, I noticed, QVC began taking last year, is impacting the forum.  Not sure most here noticed this new direction, or it's significance didn't register, but there was a glaring announcement that someone posted here that gave us a clue.

This year clinched it for me when I saw the open implementation of this new direction, evidently QVC thinking well-informed customers wouldn't notice.  However, it's obvious, now, QVC doesn't care if they do.

So, I guess it doesn't really surprise me the forum is being closed.  This new direction is impacting everything at QVC.  Open discussion eventually leads to the truth.
