@Mi47 wrote:NBC news just announced the merger between the two. WOW
There is no merger.
The media has been reporting all sorts of incorrect variations of the truth. Obviously, it is getting people worked up just as they hoped it would.

Perhaps with 2 HSN channels and 3 QVC channels, they can devote 1 to electronics, 1 for clearance items, etc. just like Beauty IQ has only beauty shows. It would make it a breeze to avoid what we're not interested in watching.

Though I have only purchased one item from HSN, their parent company, cornerstone, also own (???) Frontgate, Ballard Designs, and improvements among others. From what I have read, the two will continue to operate independently
HSN's great clearance sales ended when this happened years ago ... now I guess they'll be as bad as Q's clearance sales.

Then there are those of us who are cord cutters and no longer watch any shows. This is especially true of younger shoppers.
I no longer shop HSN and buy very little here any more. The quality is so poor and many good brands & vendors have left.
I am just buying less overall.

Procter & Gamble, for example, own pages of companies, all operating as separate. Restaurant conglomerates that own seafood, Mexican and steakhouse restaurants don't meld them into Angus Lobster de Acapulco. They continue to operate separately.
This is what I was about to post. They are now both owned by the same parent company, which is quite different than the two merging.
Either way, I don't think it makes it any better for the consumer, as competition among companies is a good thing, but they can still be run as completely separate companies, with completely different business models, target demographics, etc.
Only time will tell what the parent company may do. Anything at this point is simply speculaltion.
