Well, this is MHO about it...

To me, HSN is like a Wally World. I don't find most of their brands nearly as good as most of the brands that QVC offers. There are a few exceptions of coarse...those brands that go from one shopping channel to another....ie like Emeril (have his crab cakes on auto delivery Smiley Happy ). Even those brands I mostly find they should stay with HSN.

QVC already took over Zulily...which I thought was like them taking over an online dollar store. From the merchandise I have viewed and only purchased from them once...and the item was junk (again, MHO)...

So QVC merged with an online Wally World-type and a dollar store-type. I'm just not impressed.

Sometimes when a company gets too big for it's britches it emplodes too. It will be interesting how this will pan out in the future.

Will hosts interchange on the shows/channels? Will they all be called QVC eventually? Or will HSN become QVC3? Or will it have a new name...QVCHSNZully? Will Zulily become QVC4 someday?

Now don't get me wrong...I am a QVC fan...just not of the latest changes. I am much more of a skeptic than optomistic of this change.

I have bought from HSN about 8 times in 15 yrs. In comparison, the other 99% has been purchased through QVC.

I'm sure there are folks who shop totally the opposite of me and who love Zulily too. Everyone is different  Smiley Happy

Yes, we are all different which is why I completely disagree with comparing HSN to Wal-Mart. I despise Wal-Mart for a variety of reasons and refuse to shop there, but that's just me.

HSN at least lets me know that they appreciate my business with thank yous, discounts, samples in almost every package, etc. HSN is without a doubt far less greedy as well....one of the same reasons I dislike Wal-Mart.

This doesn't sound ideal for the consumer imo.........

They are not "merging" to become one entity. The parent company that owns QVC now owns HSN as well.

Procter & Gamble, for example, own pages of companies, all operating as separate. Restaurant conglomerates that own seafood, Mexican and steakhouse restaurants don't meld them into Angus Lobster de Acapulco. They continue to operate separately.

Oh....NO, Please say it isn't True!!!!!!!! I have seen many companies merge and it's NEVER Good....Never.  1st the quality goes, the company cuts conors. 2nd prices spike, and 3rd the customers always suffer....

Look at Philosophy, for example.   I have even seen this happen in medical care, you have excellent doctor and yes later they decide to expand ......and there goes--quality, bills, and you become just a #........

HSN  and QVC I don't like this, but then again I don't have too......

The folks on HSN's forum seem a lot more annoyed by this news and folks over here.  I buy a few items from HSN, but am much more of a QVC shopper.  Although they've toned down the pitch at HSN from the 90s, they're still a tick too over the top for my taste (to put it mildly).  Heck, I've bought a few things from Evine (Emu's, lamb-leather gloves) and they are so hyper they're scary.  I think HSN is a bit more fashion forward, but if I want something trendy for my aging butt, then I'll probably go to a store so I can try it on.

Mergers/acquisitions like this always cost a lot of people their jobs.  Note to rich people--you can't eliminate all work.  People like me won't have money to buy anything and eventually, you'll cease being rich.  You're not that clever and you're not making all your money from finance.  This is not rocket science.  I know you're trying to compete with Amazon but don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

The only items I purchase from HSN are my Trish McEvoy cosmetics. There's flex pay and when she's on also a discount code compared to prices at Nordstrom. I do, however, object to the sales tactics, fast talking hard sell, clock ticking in lower corner (how much time left to purchase that item) and the "promise" that the item will sell out on this airing...which it never does. I usually watch on mute, purchase what I need and change the channel.

IMO this isn't good news.  I bet HSN stops their fabulous sale pricing.  I hope I am WRONG!
