@FastDogWalker2 Is that a new story?  I live in Western NY, and I seem to remember a similar story about 1 year ago.  The town was southwest of Rochester, can't remember the name.  I remember because I heard about it after the fact, and wished I could have attended the sale.

Re: QVC and Estate Sale

[ Edited ]

Curiosity got the best of me so I did a quick search.   @FastDogWalker2@Peaches McPhee, Is this the sale you read about?

I think the current sale is not the one with all the QVC merchandise.   This is an estate liquidator who -- 2 years ago -- sold an estate estimated to have $700,000 worth of QVC purchases.

An 8/8/18 article in the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle discusses a current estate sale:

"Sale in Avon: Over 200 high-end estates liquidated"
" ...The last time Jerris had a huge liquidation sale was two years ago at his barn on his estate in Caledonia. Jerris purchased the estate of a deceased woman who enjoyed the shopping channel QVC so much that she had about $700,000 worth of new, unused goods stored away in her home... "

The same publication carried the article back in December 2015 which was picked up by a few other online sources:

"$700K of QVC goods on sale at Caledonia barn"
"Dooney & Bourke purses. Emeril cookware. George Foreman grills.
Just about anything you can buy on the QVC shopping channel was for sale for a fraction of the retail price at the Wadsworth-Jerris Estate  ...  in Caledonia this past Saturday.

Estate liquidator Jim Jerris purchased the estate of a recently deceased woman who enjoyed the shopping channel so much that she had about $700,000 worth of new, unused goods stored away in her home...."

Deja vu.....

This story goes around every year.

Always $700K and consists of first and foremost D&B purses.

What I don't understand is the auctioneer having to mention 'the elderely lady'.  She may've not wanted to be remembered that way....

On a  lighter side, was the buyer tucking away for the mailman, hairdresser,

trash collector, etc.

Just having a little fun.

Sad that all this has to be cleaned out and auctioned though and someone

that bought it is not enjoying it.

@Lucky Charm, if the sale in the OP is the one I found, neither of the 2 articles I posted mention "elderly."    But perhaps she read about a different estate sale?

I have seen a couple of the hoarding shows and they had shopping channel boxes among all the piles of stuff.  When I saw dead rodents and the inside of the refrigerator I had to turn it off.  It is a sad situation the way they can't part with these things, most of which is junk.....not to mention that they are living in filth.

Fear not Brothers and Sisters! I have read THE BOOK..........we win!!!

Is this the story the OP is referring to?

Honestly?  They’re probably still trying to sell off the stuff!

@tends2dogs I think those shows are the most extreme and disgusting cases. People can hoard stuff without living in filth. Some hoarders keep their hoard of stuff very tidy. I have a friend who hoards books. She is constantly at sales getting more books. She has bookcases all around her home. Honestly, she could start her own library! And , BTW, she is a retired librarian.Anyway, every one of those books is in pristine condition, and carefully dusted and cared for, and stored in perfect order. I'll sometimes ask to borrow a book, she finds it instantly. However, the whole time I have it I know she is anxious she won't get it back, so I make very certain to return it ASAP. I have given her many books as well, and when I do, you'd think I gave her millions of dollars. Anyway, her home is perfectly neat and clean and so are her books.

As for the story about $700,000 worth of QVC stuff - don't believe everything you read on the internet.
