I didn't note anybody suggesting the expectation that they risk their lives... What I see are people making comments about QVC programming...

George S - Martha S - and others.  So cuddle duds and pajamas take  those spots b/c it gives them national TV exposure.

Getting new and good products just isn't happening.

Your comment about Q wanting a high percentage of sales dollars.....Barbara Corcoran, one of the Sharks on Shark Tank alluded to that about bringing products she invests in to QVC. I can't remember her exact words as it was quite some time ago but it was clear she thinks the Q isn't worth it because of the high $$$ % they want.

I think QVC has been hit as hard as most other retailers. More people are home right now, so in theory, there are more potential viewers, but I think most are like I am...keeping my spending to a minimum as we continue into the unknown. Expensive vacs and designer handbags are not on many people’s radar right now in the midst of the current health crisis.

I suspect you have a valid point @fthunt. There don't seem to be many longer term, higher end vendors hanging around these days. It has always seemed that the Q is all about the maximum take. All retailers are, but some play nicer than others to retain quality and brands with name recognition...

I do get it, this might be a time when they could recoup some losses if they played their cards right, but when did they ever play their cards right... Smiley Wink

I'd also note the 'lone wolf' host thing is pretty hard to watch... Shows just how badly some of the newer hosts, especially, are struggling to keep up without vendors and models to bounce off of...

I don't view it that way at all, the part about needing vendors on set with them. Most of the hosts I watch never let the vendor get a word in anyways so don't see the prob with vendor not being there. LOL

Well, I guess the thing is we each view it though our own eyes... I didn't say I necessarily miss the vendors or that I think the vendors should return, what I said was it's pretty glaring how woefully unprepared some of the hosts are to do solo presentations, and I'd add, especially solo presentations that are balanced nicely paced and articulate... But I do give them kudos for making the effort...

And I admit I haven't watched many shows with the "newer" hosts as you stated, the shows I watch are mostly beauty and sometimes ITKWD.  For example, yesterday SB hosted the beauty shows and even though the vendors were Skyping, Sandra wouldn't let them talk--always chiming in. She's one of the worst to watch IMO.

I live in a NYC hi-rise apartment building .... absolutely no use for gardening shows.  I only watch a few fashion vendors.

I really haven't been watching much TV ... lots of other things to do.

If they want to try to target that younger audience now is the time since everyone is homebound.

They’re not going to do it with their current products or clothes.

@Kachina624

Even today when for once I looked forward to ITKWD that was almost 2 hours of Dyson in a 3 hour show😴☹️

I have no desire to buy from Q or any retailer not offering incentives for my $$$.

I did buy Dooney TSV since I've wanted this tote for awhile but you'd think they would at least have free shipping on TSVs.

The PTB have no clue just like when JCP hired the x -CEO of Apple and he tanked that store faster than anyone expected...and JCP has never recovered.

Re: QVC Programming is Stinko

While I may not buy as much as I used to, I think under the circumstances they are doing the best they can.  Who could have predicted what we are experiencing.  Shows are planned out months and months  in advance and you expect them to turn on a dime?  We have no idea how many employees have called out and they may be scrambling to fill production slots.

If they shut down there would be complaints.  Trying to carry on, complaints.  I don't understand the constant negativity from some all the time, no matter what the subject.  If all you are concerned about is a shopping channels presentation in today's environment , good for you.  I am more concerned about my fellow man and those that are risking their own lives to keep us going than what QVC is offering.  Stay safe all.

@mspatmac: I totally agree with you. With what's going on in the world right now, nothing is what it used to be. I think QVC is doing the best they can under the circumstances.
