I also put it on as background. The only things I like to watch is fashion, and when an obnoxious host comes on, I mute it. I think they are leaning more to the loud in your face hosts...Amy is so irritating, Jane with her shoes...muting it right now..Shawn seems over the top. I prefer a softer sales approach, I'm sure others like the loud. And the items..GILI from the 70s (ugly); Belle by Gravelle...she like screams at you...it's so fake. I don't need crazy dresses, I'd like some real clothes at real prices (thank goodness TJMaxx is back!). I think online sales everywhere are booming with people staying home, and this is a sales industry..it can be rough, but you know that going in, so if sales are off...off you go. No issues. It's just too bad some bad hosts (what I consider bad) are staying. And QVC, you do need to mix up your items....some are stale.

What an odd and insensitive comment

In sales-related jobs, you're typically judged by certain sales metrics. If you aren't in the upper tier of the metrics, your job is vulnerable. I'm not a QVC exec so I don't know their metrics, but a good guess would be sales per viewer, revenue per viewer, number of viewers, whether you gain or lose viewers during your airtime, etc.

Officially the age or other non-sales related stuff shouldn't matter, but in reality, the metric goals can be adjusted to get rid of pretty much anyone they want to get rid of if they want them gone. Just find out where they're weak in a metric and make that more important and away goes the person you don't want.

In the case of QVC if they're interested in keeping someone the execs could make revenue per viewer more important and give their favored hosts programs like the computers or higher-end products that generate more revenue. (Not necessarily profit, but revenue.) Someone they don't want to keep around they could give the lower-priced items to and they'd then fall short of the revenue per viewer goal and be able to be dismissed.

Metrics can be manipulated in all kinds of fun ways to let the execs justify firing whoever they want to fire.

@gardenman  ......  "Someone to keep around". That might explain the excessive hours and getting the prime time for certain hosts the last couple of months. Common sense says a couple of hosts are not going to be able to carry the full load.

Hmmm...is it "kind" to want to censor the opinions of posters you dont agree with? We dont have to agree with everyone but we dont have to wish the mods to remove what we determine to be "unkind".

Too true, but then giving up completely on expecting moderation to be fair, even or consistent with or without impetus from disgruntled posters is the only stance that makes sense anymore.

Seriously people, stop the whining.  When my Macy's Estee Lauder sales person left I didn't spend an entire day crying about it.  Sheez....should have let Shawn and Amy go.  They are awful...and that awful Lori Gold whatever....

It's sales folks, they get let go all the time.  Move on get a life off of your couch.

Agree about Amy but that's about it.

A lot of people on here are assuming thatQVCC is laying people off due to poor sales. Quite the contrary!! Their sales in just the food category are up 60% sinceCOVIDD-19 started. Its probably the usual suspects, the corporate dummies, who like to make changes based on business growth theories rather than common sense.

Always a possibilityy, especially given the captain of this ship...

Probably a factor, but one might surmise the choice to go with endless reruns on all three channels indicates something isn't playing out as they'd hoped. Their food sales might be doing well, and they've probably kicked it up a notch during the pandemic when outside shopping is limited, but one might surmise something else is going on beyond mere corporate types being dummies... Heck, that's been the case for years...
