i will say that my two daughters have and will buy from qvc OR i will get stuff for them. definitely items like cosmetics, handbags, home items. one daughter LOVES the beach pants from denim and company. she also likes the peace love world brand PLUS torn items and items with inspirational sayings. the same daughter recently LOVED the sneakers i purchased from revitalign that were the TSV. i will probably cave and get her a pair. NFL items are also a big hit.

the other daughter uses the SUNDAY RILEY brand and likes the kits. we both like the katy perry shoe line also.

they have purchased wines also and a few other food/snack items. both work full time.

do they sit down and watch QVC? never.....

i dont watch a lot, but i do review a lot of my favorite brands, watch videos, and follow hosts/vendors on social media to see what is coming up on the horizon.

there is definitely a market for the younger customer.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to this thread.😊🌸

You made some very good points about what your daughters purchase, how they purchase, and what they like to receive.

They like a very wide array of items.  Beauty, handbags, shoes, household, wines, foods, NFL, and beach pants, are all great sellers.  It's great to know the younger generation love all these things the Q offers 😃

Its interesting, but expected I guess that they prefer shopping online.  That's probably why the Q is doing a lot of improvements and offering so much programming online to watch.

Im really glad you posted about this factor.  You're the only person to mention all these other items and I feel it's really important.💝🌸

@sunshine45 You summed it up so nicely!!👍 I absolutely agree, and so does QVC!!❤

THANK YOU for offering another much needed perspective for this conversation!🥰 I have enjoyed reading the many viewpoints, but yours added a little EXTRA cheese on the enchilada!😁

I would like to think that they are considering all ages.  That would certainly be to their benefit moneywise!  As we all know, prices are terribly high all over right now and not likely to get any better.  Most of us have to go where we can get the best prices, no matter the age.  I don't limit myself to this place or any place.

I don't get frustrated.

Everything I want can be found elsewhere for less money, promo codes, free shipping, and almost always free returns.

I can find no-iron cotton, dressy clothes, casual clothes,100% cotton, electronics, kitchen/bed/livingroom products, decor, makeup, etc etc for less at countless other retailers.

I'm old but not dead. I think Q caters to a stereotypical old woman.  I don't like gawdy prints, polyester, so much spandex, tunics, etc. To me, polyester is like wearing a plastic bag because it doesn't breathe and holds in too much body heat.

If they want to sell tunics, a model should be 5' tall so we can see how it looks on short people. IMO, tunics do not look good on any short person.

Re: QVC Buyer Demographic

As others have noted, Qurate says that they want a "younger" average age of customer, not "young".  There is a world of difference.  Young and younger are not interchangeable in this analysis.

I have never seen management say 20s or 30s is the immediate target (although app development to attract them is underway), but that they seek an average lower customer age.

They disclose each earnings report that the average customer is female,  early 60s, with significant disposable income.  It doesn't take a big age difference to skew that average lower.  The statistics are QXH, since Qurate doesn't disclose QVC and HSN data separately.

The existing QXH customer on average buys 31 items annually,  spending $1600.

Best customers buy 76 items at $3900.

@THEY CallMe Mr Wilkes    I agree 100%

Young vs younger mean two distinctly different things.  I never believed QVC/Qurate was trying to target young adults -- ever.

QVC has a brand identity that they carefully curated over the years.  But in order to grow for their future, they need to include different aspects of the younger shopper.  Early 60's shoppers today are very attuned to social media and youtube, and are familiar with many different brands and retail sites.

I follow many brands and people on Instagram, for example.  That's how I know immediately where I can search more updated styles, or better prices/deals. QVC has to try to stay in that mix.

@cheriere ,  I haven't followed the entire thread, but do you mind me interjecting something that is apart from your subject matter?

I always notice "tone" and for lack of a better phrase, 'manner of interaction' on threads I read.  For better or worse, they're as important to me as the topic.

You have patience, and such a gracious way of trying to understand and respond to us posters, whatever we present.  That's a balm-- so refreshing--  and a skill, and shows character, discipline and intent.   Kudos!

That's all.

I am probably just outside the younger end of the average demo for QVC.  I am 5'9" tall.  My inseam is 32".  Most 3/4 sleeve tops for me are elbow length, like the one I have on today.  Most elbow length sleeves are just a short sleeve for me.  A long sleeve top?  I think I have three that actually come to my wrists.  It doesn't matter where I get my clothes from.  But, I have shopped in men's sections at box stores before just to have long sleeves that are long sleeves for me in the cold weather months.  As far as cost, I try to keep things reasonable.  I shop clearance most of the time.  Just not here but where ever I shop.
