So does it still show up on your credit report?

When a new department store moved to town, I applied for their card but never used it.   I know it had to be 2-3 years ago.

It's still listed as active on my credit report.

I went to puchase the TSV today. When I went to order they said I couldn't use my Q Card. I asked why. They said since I hadn't used it 18 months it was no longer good and that I would have to get a new one. I said no. So I charged on one of my other cards. I f I didn't want the TSV so bad I would have told the girl to forget it. And cancel the order. So if you don't use the card in a certain amount of time they take it away. Well they lost a customer that might have come back but not nowl.

I got a notice in the mail awhile ago about my Q card being cancelled if I didn't use it by whatever date. I don't buy from the Q anymore so its no skin off my nose. I've been meaning to cancel the card anyway.

that’s standard from any company.  Nordstrom did the same thing because I wasn’t using their card.  I also had that happen from a Visa card for not using it.  Qvc is no different.

This is routine with most cards.

I rarely shop at Macy's or JC Penney and I've had to open multiple accounts as when I visit and try to charge, the cards have aged out and been closed.

I was told it helps prevent fraud and theft.

Regardless, the card is issued by  another company (synchrony?), and it is their rules you are subject to in using the credit.

It takes just a few seconds to open an account, I don't really see the problem when this simply follows industry standards.

Yep, as others have said, it happened to me  and DH too.  He had a Lowes card that was closed for non-use.  He didn't know it until he went to use it.  He opened another account.

I had a Sears card years ago and first the credit limit was greatly reduced because I wasn't using the card, then it was closed completely for non-use.

I just closed my Q Card on my own.  I canceled the HSN card last year, now the Q Card and Evine will be next.

@software- it takes years for it to drop off.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

If you are concerned about your credit rating, NEVER close a card on your own.

It lowers your 'Open Available Credit' and thus lowers your rating.

Let THEM close you!  That has no affect.

If your credit rating doesn't matter at this point in your life...then it is a mute point!  LOL
