UPS My Choice - Great Option!

[ Edited ]

I'm probably late to the party on this one, but I just found out about UPS My Choice.  I got a little nervous at finding out a delivery was anticipated for Saturday and we aren't going to be home.  It would have sat on my porch all weekend, in the elements and at risk of getting stolen.  I called UPS asking if there was a way they could intercept and hold my item.  I gave the agent the long tracking number and she said it wasn't an UPS number.  Umm, yes it is.  The package is currently in transit from Evine.  The UPS agent suggested I call Evine to see if they could do anything.  I talked to a super helpful CSR there who told me how I could change my delivery date via the UPS website so the package would either be held by USP ore USPS, if transfered, until I got back home and could receive delivery on Monday.  I set up my My Choice profile and changing the delivery was very simple.  Then I come to find out I can just log in and see when any deliveries are coming.  I can't see where I'm being charged anything for this delivery change, but I did have to enter a cc number just in case.  Right now, I'm OK with that rather than coming home to a spoiled product.

It's great, @JeanLouiseFinch!   I've been using it for years.   I also recommend these free services (just copy and paste the links):

FedEx Delivery Manager®

fedex.com/apps/fdmenrollment/

and

Informed Delivery® by USPS®

I have been using this service for years, as well.  Normally, they send me an email of anticipated delivery.  If it’s UPS all the way to my door, I can arrange for a different delivery if necessary.  If my package is UPS to USPS, I can opt to have it delivered by UPS instead, which is normally 1-2 days sooner.  This option has a nominal fee, which is why you may have needed a credit card.

While I don't like Smartpost and think the post office is way too slow in delivering by scanning each item 4 times over the course of the two days that they have that package in their possession.....I will not pay UPS extra money for the "privilege" of receiving my item in an overheated truck with tire marks or some filth on the package or bag that is so bad I can't bring it into my home.

What in the heck does this have to do with the topic?

@JeanLouiseFinch  I have seen UPS MY Choice and prefer not to use it.  Just expressing my opinion.

The basic UPS My Choice is free, @puttypiesmom. 😊 They just offer special services if you want to pay for them.  I’ve never even added any payment source info on my account.

Correct, but that’s a special service.  The basic services are free.  It’s a really nice tracking and alert system.😊
