I was reading a post earlier this morning from a woman who stated that her Q Card account had been HACKED into,to the tune of over a thousand dollards!. Does anyone know if this is true or not?. I did have trouble accessing the Q Site several days ago... an error message kept coming up saying that the site was not available at this time. Does anyone have any new information to share on this topic?. In a state of panic, I quickly cancelled my last order. Not knowing if it would have made any difference.... but I did it anyway! My Q card available credit was lowered by a large amount last year because according to qvc I had not used my account in a very long time. I have considered closing the account in full... this may be the push I need to do it. No credit card is worth messing up your financial history.

Re: Q Card security breach!?

I don't think it was her Q Card but her QVC account. Someone ordered using Bill to Ship to. All the person had to do was get signed in to the QVC account and order, changing the shipping address. It defaults to the Q Card as payment method.

After reading that thread, I changed my password and added text alerts for any order placed, so I would be notified if anyone ordered immediately and do not have to continually check my email to monitor.

Re: Q Card security breach!?

That was my post, and who can determine if the credit card info was hacked or just the account hacked? Either way, someone was able to access my account and charge 4 laptop computers and 2 watches to my account to be shipped to an address added at the time of the order and apparently not a single flag was raised in the QVC ordering system!

I strongly suggested that everyone sign up for e-mail or text notification for every purchase. It was the e-mail notification that caught my attention so I was able to cancel the order. QVC did enter my card as "stolen" and a new card is being issued. I removed my other credit cards from the account so if my account is every illegally accessed again, there will be no way for an order to be placed unless they're stupid enough to put their own credit card in!

Oh, and YES - CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD. It's a shame that while QVC updated their password requirement from 4 # PIN to longer password they didn't upgrade to the current level of security recommended which is requiring Upper Case, Lower Case, numeric and special characters to be used.

Hi NanaSmile I'm no expert, but I think it was QVC that got hacked is because otherwise, they would have had to have hacked Synchrony Bank and QVC?

Yep.

Something was bugging me about an account being hacked and then I decided to try something. This should make everyone who has an account here very nervous. I tried logging in with an incorrect password. I tried three times with wrong passwords. The security standards say an account should be locked after three incorrect attempts to log in. Nope. Fourth time I used my correct password and bingo. THAT'S how the accounts can be hijacked! Run a password cracker program and keep at it until you're in, QVC won't stop you.
