the bank charged ME a $20 fee for deposting it and of course it did not go through.
Thank you for the warning.

Yeah, wow. That would be anger-inducing.

yes, it is called a RETURNED DEPOSITED ITEM FEE. you may want to check with your bank and see if your account can be charged that fee. banks can charge up to $35 per returned item.

When my MIL passed away my husband and I had to clean out her home. It became very time consuming as we started finding money in crazy places: underneath area rugs, in tupperware containers, under couch and chair cushions. It was crazy. Every article of clothing had to have their pockets checked, every pocketbook and wallet gone through. By the time we were done we had found over $2,600 she had stashed away in almost every room in the house.
When my day comes, my family is going to be hugely disaapointed!

Also called a ‘Chargeback Fee’, depending on your bank.

When I was packing to move 5 yrs ago, I found stuck in my nightstand an envelope w/$200 cash all in $20 bills.
I have no clue where that money came from. Casino winnings go directly in the bank....
House money I stash in a protable safe.....
Paramour asked if I was running a house of ill repute. ![]()

i usually associate a CHARGEBACK FEE with a credit card. for example, if i charge a person $50 for services then they go and disupute it with their credit card company, the bank charges my business account with a $15 chargeback fee AND removes the charge that initially went through.

Several instruments....account, credit card, LOC....
Wiki:
Chargeback is the return of funds to a consumer, initiated by the issuing bank of the instrument used by a consumer to settle a debt. Specifically, it is the reversal of a prior outbound transfer of funds from a consumer's bank account, line of credit, or credit card.

This!
I was a teller many years ago (early 80s) and though I can't remember the rules now I know that checks aren't good forever.

I worked in a bank that check will not go through. If I remember they are stale dated at 6 months unless the check is marked good for 1 year. In any case that is way 2 old. You would need to return to maker & have a new check issued.
