This photo was posted a few days after our fires began while we were still evacuated. I immediately saw Smokey Bear trying to protect his beloved mountains. The fires were still burning and not contained when the photo first appeared in June. This is a repost from yesterday. You may see something different.

That's wonderful!
What makes it even more amazing is I've seen Smokey the Bear commercials several times this past week! I haven't seen them in decades.
Smokey the Bear is getting his message across all the ways he can!![]()

I see a fat puppy rolling on his back. Probably wants a tummy rub.

I see Smokey the Bear also and I am glad he is sending out the message to protect our forests and land from fires.
Those people who are responsible for these wild fires must be punished and put in jail for their actions. It is heartbreaking to see all the damage these fires do to the land and the animals who live in the areas.

@on the bay The Smokey Bear in the campaign was 80 years old in August. I hope they are celebrating by resurrecting his campaigns. Our baby Smokey Bear was found clinging to a tree about 6 years later. Bear cubs are tiny. This photo is of Baby Smokey with the game warden's daughter. The family cared for him when he was first rescued.
Both versions of Smokey are in this photo. Baby Smokey does look somewhat like a puppy.

@hkrgrl I am not certain about the cloud formation's location. Baby Smokey Bear was found near Capitan, New Mexico. This is a photo of a photograph that was on display in his museum in Capitan. Smokey is buried in the surrounding grounds there.
