@SeaMaiden suggested a fast on juice for 3 days prior to a colonoscopy to make the cleanse easier.  Since I don't think I could do that, I googled easy to digest food.  I found an article that was "Low-Fiber Diet for Colonosopy Prep".  They suggested low fiber food for three days prior to the liquid diet day and gave a list of foods in the following categories that are low fiber and should make the cleansing easier; milk and dairy, breads and grains, meat, fruits, vegetables, nut butter, soups, desserts, drinks or beverages, and "other" such as sugar, etc.  They also list foods in each of these categories that you should not have.

Unfortunately, I do not have three days prior to my colonosopy to report if this works, but I am going to do it tomorrow (Tuesday) and then Wednesday is my liquid diet day.  But, I am going to keep a copy of this for the next time I have a colonoscopy scheduled.

Re: Prior to a colonoscopy.....

@wismiss

Having drank 20 gallons of Go/Nu Lytely? The less in your colon the better. Where did 3 days come from? If you move things regularly, like daily or more often, you don't  need 3 days.

The days you have left stick with liquids and you're set. Can't go 2 days on that, really?  For many of mine I was in the hospital, but I have done liquids on in prep for Road Racing /playing hockey games, and just because I felt bloated. Many times for over 3 days, nothing to it. Hope all goes well for you,

@hckynut , I have diabetes and I don't know how three days of just liquids would work.

There are many liquids that would not severely affect your diabetis - broth (store bought is fine), strained soup, jello without fruit and not red in color, cottage cheese, applesauce (no sugar added), Ensure, Boost, or Enlive for some ideas.

My doctor gave me detailed instructions about diet (low fiber for three days), which included all the foods to inclde and exclude and when to start the prep and how.  He told me to buy gatorade, Miralax, and Ducalax pills.  The instructions told me when to do each one and how to mix the Miralax with the Gatorade.  If your doctor gave you instructions, just follow whatever he said to do because the methods for each doctor may vary according to risk factors and one's health issues.

Doesn't all of this belong in Wellness, not Community Chat? I'm sure there would be many more contributors and suggestions if it were in a forum more directly related to health than just  chat. Just my opinion.

I actually have no opinion about colonoscopy prep for somebody's colon other than my own. I'd adhere to whatever my doctor instructed and suggest others do so.

To me, that just makes it worse.  You have to be on a special diet for 4 days rather than just 1.

Re: Prior to a colonoscopy.....

@wismiss For my colonscopy last summer, I did one day of light, white eating (dairy, white meat chicken, green veggies, fruit) followed by a day of clear liquids and yellow jello.

In his discussion after my procedure, the doctor actually thanked me for coming in so clean!

You should be fine with a 2-day careful prep.   And good luck with your procedure.  I hate doing it --  but not doing it is even worse for me.  I need to know!

Re: Prior to a colonoscopy.....

@wismissWhat does your doctor advise and why would the advice of any poster here  overrule what your doctor says?

I don't understand this.

@wismiss Take your doctor's advice and not that of any strangers here. That is the person who knows what's best for YOU.
