Re: Prince Philip Leaves Hospital

@stevieb we dont know who they are spending Christmas with. Doria will be there, but perhaps she had to get back to her job? We dont know her schedule. Plus, her best friend lives in Canada. Other people could be flying out to visit them too. Bottom line, they made a decision to spend the holidays on this side of the pond and id bet the Queen and Co are fine with it.

The first thing I noticed was how dapper he was looking in his coat and tie, even at age 98 after a hospital stay. Stiff upper lip and all that!

@Patriot3 I am very disappointed with Harry's choice of where to spend Christmas.  His grandparents will not be around to spend that many Christmases.  Since Meghan is an only child and her mother seems to be her only family, Doria could have easily flown to London instead of Canada.   It would not be the choice I would have made if I were in his shoes but as you said.........it's his choice.  Just makes me sad.

I feel the opposite.  I would never in a million years want to spend Christmas with the Royals.  I am sure they are nice people, but there is no way I would want to celebrate Christmas Day in such a formal way.

No one can relax. They have to follow the Queens schedule.  Did you know the Queen changes her clothing five to seven times on Christmas Day?

Almost everything they do is robot like...they are expected to do as they are told and even when it is time to lay the fork down and stop eating.

I can imagine a life like this is difficult for Meghan.  It is very difficult for me to even comprehend why anyone would continue with all of this nonsense.

I'd find some excuse to get out of town too.

@Carmie  I don't think that's what you would do because YOU would have had sense enough to take a look and say "That's not the way I want to live" in the first place!  Right?

@Sooner I think you are probably right.  I would never marry into a royal family, no matter how much in love I was with their family member.

I could never, ever live like that and there is no way I would curtesy or walk behind anyone.  We are all equal. The Queen is no better than you or I or some poor homeless person.  We all deserve the same level of respect.

I guess if you were born into it, you wouldn't know any different.  Harry lost at least one girlfriend who didn't want that type of life.  Since he has little chance of every being king and has tasted a "normal" life that non royals live, he might be moving away from that lifestyle.

I understand everyone is different, but today's life is mostly casual.  Since the Royals don't really have a purpose other than to look and act proper and be there to raise money for charities, I am surprised they are still relavent.  There have been many slip-ups as of late.

They are like actors in a play.  They get dressed up and play to the public.
