George Simonton Printed Milky Knit Top with Chiffon Ruffle

My wedding dress (in 1983)was a ivory silk sheath dress with a v neck and a chiffon capelet like this. The capelet was a small ditsy print with lavender and taupe and olive green. I loved that dress ! But anyway, this is kinda nostalgic to me - and I think it is flattering.Of course my dress was more figure flattering than this top is.

That's why Bob Mackie gave up making items out of silk. The miracle of polyester is that they can make it to imitate just about any other fabric. Nylon could be used but it's hotter than poly.

i don't really care what fabric they use - i just want it to be appropriately priced. Sheesh. Typical of this BB - totally do not read or comprehend the OP then run off with snark about something that is totally off the point. $52 is not APPROPRIATE price for a polyester blouse.

Well go shop at K-Mart or Walmart if that's your style. You make stupid remarks then get mad when someone tries to reply. You want cheap? They have cheap.

Re: Pretty George simonton top but...

What people here are missing is - it IS cheap - it is nothing but polyester double knit - it just is not being sold cheap. Just because they give poly double knit a fancy name like liquid knit or milky knit - it is still polyester double knit - and it sells dirt cheap. i sew I know the price of yard goods and I certainly know what are good fabrics and what are not.

QVC is raking people over the coals with their prices and yet those people come here and defend their right to overpay for something. So glad you all feel you have money to throw away.I don't feel that way - i expect value for my money. That means I expect the product to be worth what is being charged for it. $52 for a poly double knit blouse is definitely NOT value for the money. Sheesh.

I get raked over the coals here all the time for saying I want value for my money - but i will always be that way and i will always be proud that I am thrifty and that I do not over pay for items. Being thrifty is a virtue not sin.

Then go shop at a goodwill store or a ""mart"" store.

Do you want these sold at cost? You are ""overpaying"" for every single thing you buy. I don't understand your rants sometimes...

Re: Pretty George simonton top but...

As others have pointed out, polyester is available in many types.

The kind that Simonton uses is, IMO, a high quality that is durable: it can take abuse, and the clothes still look lovely.

I also think the pricing is fair.

If you don't like it, move on.

how would you know how figure flattering this top is when you don't have it? It looks great on the models. And as for price, well, I recently posted about all the great name brand clothes I got at a thrift store in great condition and I paid what you want to pay, however, I do believe you are one of those that has stated you wouldn't wear clothes worn by other people, so I guess you are stuck. If you want value for clothing, it is out there as many have attested to. Kohls, JCP, TJ Maxx, The Rack, Macy's clearance racks, Target, Belks.... so why not shop there instead of watching QVC and then complaining that the prices are too high? They are not going to change their pricepoint for people who think they are too high, which is why some of us go out to the stores and find what we want in the prices we are willing to pay.

Not all polyester is created equal. When I travel I pack some polyester items.

While natural fibers may breathe, they also wrinkle, stretch out particularly in the seat or knees, many must be dry cleaned and those that can be washed, tend to shrink a bit.

Polyester does not wrinkle, can be rinsed in the sink, dries quickly and holds it shape.

Polyester does not always mean cheap.

I agree. All poly is not created equal.

I haven't a clue about Simonton's fabric, though, as I've never bought any of his things.

Re: Pretty George simonton top but...

It's got a lot of great reviews and I don't think that's an outrageous price (for the Q) for a top.

The problem is when an item goes on clearance the sizes and colors are very limited.

Anyway I hope you find something you like.

I own that top. It was very comfortable in the AZ heat. Very lightweight.
