What a man President Carter is! He's lived more than a lifetime doing for others from being this country's President to doing as much charitable work as he could possibly do for others who have had much less.

President Jimmy is tired now, he's worn out, he's able to make his own decision to call it. So many others who've aged so well or maybe not so much to do this final act for himself. He has more than lived his life. Rest now Mr President, this is your will to finally take it easy.

@gidgetghI was just a youngster when Mr.Carter became President but I will always remember that When the nuclear reactor at Three Mile Island in Pennsylvania went into Meltdown HE went there.  He was reviewing and aware of the situation.  Made me feel better that the President had knoweledge of the things that were going on and he even explained some of what was happening to the people.

That was the Leaderly thing to do.

My thoughts are going out to him.

Edited to add: I realize that your tribute was for his involvement during the Canadian reactor accident.  But..What are the odds a Nuclear Power Specialist would be leading our country Just when we needed him?

Sadly, our country was not ready for an empathetic, caring, peace-loving, honest, president like Carter.

I like to think when we are done with this life we get what we deserve....a scary thought for some.  Not for President Carter.

My prayers for a peaceful passing for  Pres. Carter whenever the good Lord calls him.  Moving on to a better place.  He along with his wife by his side are true humanitarians. Caring, empathetic and loving people.

"An Hour Before Daylight - Memoirs of a Rural Boyhood," written by former President Carter, is almost as if you are in the same room, listening to him tell stories about his family and growing up in Georgia.  The childhood he had is what shaped him into the giving person he is, and the customs and values that shaped the child who became the 39th President of the United States.

Unlike some autobiographies, Carter doesn't hold back in writing about both the good and the bad, as someone once said, it contains "warts and all."

This book is a gentle but unvarnished memoir of a boyhood spent in rural Georgia before, during and after the Great Depression. It is a book about roots and a way of life that is gone, never to return.

I'm comforted, in that it appears that now, some time in the eminent future, the Former President Jimmy Carter), is, can & will be able to comfortably assert:

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

Thank You, former President Jimmy Carter, for continuing to serve as a sterling example, of what many of us can aspire to.   Blessings.

Continued comfort & support offered to former FLOTUS Mrs Rosalynn Carter, children,  Jack, James III, Donnel &  Amy), other family members, friends, loved ones, US citizens, & the World for the compromised health of this "Happy Soldier."
