@Linmo wrote:@qvcaddition My new puppy chewed up my glasses when we first brought him home. I found the same frames on ezcontacts dot com and the lenses were free. I just entered my prescription when I placed the order.
They came a couple of days ago and are exactly the same as my previous ones. I did not use insurance and they still cost less than my previous ones that were paid for using insurance at the eye doctor's.
I am going in today to see if they can be fixed, but I appreciate the info. I just need frames, my lenses didn't break, but if they can't fix, I will look up ezcontacts. Thank you.

@handygal2 wrote:This happened to me once-- the frame broke, and l wanted to keep the lenses and buy a new frame for them. As long as the new frame is smaller than the old one was, a full-service opticial shop can grind down the lenses to fit the new frame.
@handygal2 That wouldn't work with all progressive lens because the prescription has different zones of correction. You couldn't go much smaller at all without losing some of the reading strength.

@Sooner : Good point. I went slightly smaller at the time, and it worked out.

Brought frames in today and need new ones. I have progressive tri vocals. She said I need the same frames for the lenses and they are 200.00. I can see out of old glasses, and will have a new eye exam then and everything new.
Ins is 6-1-22. I was going to change them at that time, so don't want to get new frames and change in June.
I'm elderly, so I don't need them for work, just reading around the house and I can still see with them, so will wait. Pres. is two years old, although I'm thinking they could be a back up just in case. Have to think on it, because I'm on a tight budget.Thank you for all your answers.

@qvcaddition : If you are over 65 go to an opthamalogist for an exam and a free prescription. I then use zennioptical dot com for all frames and lenses. My bifocals always cost under $150 and the quality is very good. I've used them for 20 years and highly recommend. ( cheaper than optical insurance).

Last year I had my frames break and I took them to the local Lenscrafters seeing if I could get them to do a repair for me, although I'd purchased the glasses elsewhere.
Lenscrafters said they couldn't help, but as a :last resort: I should go to the Watch Repair kiosk in the mall.
This guy is a genius and fixed them in a half hour! He did caution me that they might last for 6 weeks or 6 months and no guarantees, but I wanted to take a chance on a quick fix, for now. It worked out great!
